Perfect for a night!
There were 8 of us adults in town for a wedding. The property was clean and fresh! No "old home" smell which my sister is always worried about! 😂 Oh and thanks for having Static Guard in the laundry area! Life saver!! The only bummer was the TV situation as the guys wanted to watch the football game, but were unable to due to no cable. Otherwise, it was a great location and property! Tip: If you are coming home when its dark leave a light on outside! It gets quite dark in the driveway area!

In Praise of Old Houses
Truly a place with history. This 1834 home reminds me of the literary works by Vernon Lee, and is the perfect accommodation for art, history, and literature buffs - who will find the charming nooks and crannies of this house perfect for getting lost in. Although there are plenty of modern amenities, we were delighted to be surrounded by beautiful traditional Persian rugs, glowing oil paintings, and various vintage tchotchkes. Coming back to this romantic house after coffeeshop and bookstore-hopping was the perfect ending to our time in Saugatuck. We were a small group and very much enjoyed the opportunity to take a step back in time. Thank you, John Matthew for your gracious hospitality, we will definitely be back!

Saugatuck
We love the house and location and overall it was fine. There were wet clothes left in washing machine and it looks like dishes got put away dirty. There were also dirty dishes in dishwasher. We also had very little communication from our host, compared to what I get with most hosts.

The location was great and the size of the house was accommodating for the 7 of us. The sheets were clean and the beds were comfortable. Great firepit.

Reunion
Property was in process of being cleared. I was embarrassed as my friends were driving from all over the state to meet after 50 years. I was finally able to get ahold and was told he thought we weren’t coming until tomorrow. As we waited he cleaned the upper floor and had to leave and come back later to finish. House was still dirty. Dusty and grout upstairs bathroom dirty. There was a smell of fish coming from kitchen.

Bridal Party Getaway
I rented the Elizabeth house for my daughter and her Bridal party to stay the night before her wedding at the Ivy House and then our family stayed there after the wedding. It was such a quaint, fun, historic house with all the needed space, close to the venue and well appointed for all we needed. Enjoyed a bon fire and relaxation the night before with 11 of us (as we used an air mattress for one person). The driveway is long so could hold all our cars. I would recommend this for any group looking for a great place to stay in Saugatuck

Work reunion/girls trip fun in Saugatuck
I booked this trip for a weekend in Saugatuck with my former coworkers for a mini reunion. It was the perfect location and size for our group of six. There was plenty of room to spread out. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure in the showers was great. It is walkable to downtown, probably around a mile. It is an old historic home but is nicely decorated, and it was very clean. The patio in the back and the outdoor fire pit are amazing! We had no issues during our weekend rental. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a rental for a group.

I liked the size of this property. There was enough space for my family of 10. Kids loved the big yard. I didn't like all the insects/critters inside the house. The house felt abandoned.

Lazy Host- Not Worth Price
Not a well-maintained property. Amenities stated there was a hot tub and a grill available. "Hot Tub" was a bath with jets. No propane to be used for the grill. Property owner blamed the previous guests for using it all. When we contacted them to see if there was more, we got a response hours later after we already had eaten dinner. We cooked inside but found 4 empty salt containers, an empty bottle of olive oil, and the rest of their spices were so damp, they were unusable. There were no bathroom supplies. All we had was watered down hand soap to shower with. We expressed our disappointment with the host, and they just stopped responding after we checked out. Not worth the money.

Short Weekend Family Fun
We were impressed with this historic home, and appreciated the large outdoor space to enjoy games and relaxation with tables and chairs aplenty. Celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary with the 8 people who stayed at the property and 8 others who joined in for a few evening hours.

Great Spot for a Group of 8
We needed a place in town that would accommodate a group of 8 (4 couples) and allow us to book only one night. This was it! This older home has tons of character and provided exactly what we needed which was clean beds, bathrooms to get ready in, and a fridge for our happy hour bevs. Check in and out was super easy. Only complaint was that it’s a 20 min walk from downtown. But steps we all needed after the food and drink we had that weekend!

Nice place
this was only our second house rental ever and wasn't really sure what to expect. The host responded to all my questions and e everything was ready for us when we got there. The pictures don't do the property justice at all. Very charming property with lots of history. More then ample glassware, dishes, cookware, towels etc. Due to winter weather didn't use patio/outdoor space, but that would just be an added bonus. Glad we found this place!

Perfect
Everything was perfect. Came in on a cold rainy day with a fire already started! The host responded quickly and even stopped by later in the evening when we were having issues trying to figure out the TV. He was very accommodating letting us have a late check out and an early check-in if we wanted. Would recommend and do it all again!
