The owners were very friendly! I was very hesitant because of all the negative comments and feedback online, but I went in with an open mind. The room was very clean, I loved that the sheets smelled of bleach, they would remind me that if I needed room service or anything, not to hesitate to ask. There’s a microwave, fridge, big tv, wonderful shower with sliding glass doors. The boardwalk and tons of restaurants and the wharf are right there. The parking is a bit tight, but that really is no problem. Just a little navigation. Waking up and seeing the rides, ocean and hearing the seals is so cool. Don’t believe the negative things about this place!! I’ll definitely be staying there again when I go back. I’m sure grateful for the friendly staff, whom I feel were probably the nicest folks I met in the 5 days I was in California.

Property seemed quite run down. Had a musty smell. AC would only blow if you turned it off and then back on. Then it only lasted for about 3 minutes and shut off. It was hard to sleep as it was so hot. The bed frame was metal and made noise with any little movement. Mattress was hard, as were the pillows. Which of course made it hard to sleep. There was not any type of small closet or place to put clothes/jackets. No space in the bathroom to set toiletries. Parking lot was small and crammed and on a hill. There may have been one flat-ish spot but that’s about it. Our car isn’t big but we even changed spots out of fear it would be hit if any larger vehicle needed to find a spot.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. My girlfriend and I were visiting Santa Cruz and decided we would look for a place to stay since we drove 5 hours and couldn’t drive back the same day. Not being familiar with the area, we initially thought our best option would be a hotel that was nearly a 30 minute walk from the Boardwalk. We then decided we needed something closer to the beach, even if it meant sacrificing quality. This is when we came across Fireside Inn. We noticed that it looked a bit dated from the online photos, but it wasn’t a real breaker for us. It was a 3 minute walk from the beach, so we booked our stay, which was also at a great price. Upon arriving at the location, we were initially confused as to where the hotel was, since none of the buildings matched the photos online. As it turns out, the hotel had been recently painted and looks much better than it does online. The parking situation was very simple, and checking in was easy. Staff was very friendly and even wished me a happy birthday (thank you again!). The real surprise came once we entered our room. When I say this room was clean, I mean it was CLEAN. It was clearly recently remodeled. Nice paint, clean floors, comfortable bed, heated and lit bathroom mirror, walk-in shower with glass doors, so on. Instead of sacrificing quality like we originally thought, our expectations were actually greatly exceeded. I will absolutely stay here again next time I visit Santa Cruz.

So I checked in Friday at 11pm my room was dirty it had a piece of pizza on the floor and old blood stains in the sheets. I had my stay for two nights and the air conditioning was broken I told them they didn’t say anything and I had to ask for towels. Also the bed was very ruff. The next day they changed out by bed sheets and gave me another set with blood on them

Great managers great. They have remodeled the rooms cause I stayed here before. Need bigger tv my son said but other than that good. Rooms have no heater but I asked for one and they gave me one cause my kids were cold.

Perfect for walking to the beach, boardwalk, pier and surrounding restaurants and shops. Parking is included, we didn't drive for 2 days. It is noisy, you can hear everything. Sam and his team are amazing and accommodating.

The units were clean with just the basics. Parking is tricky.. but location for the price is exceptional! This area has a "mix" of visitors and the property manager is watchful and careful of the activities on the property. This was appreciated! He was also very pleasant to communicate with as we had schedule changes and visitors. Thank you!!

CONVENIENT TO THE BOARDWALK, STUFFY IN THE ROOM. DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO CONTROL THE AC REMOTE SO THAT WAS OF NO HELP TURNING THE AC ON. TOOK ALONG TIME FOR THE WATER TO GET HOT IN THE SHOWER. PARKING LOT WAS NO FUN. OVER ALL DON'T THINK I WOULD BE STAYING THERE AGAIN
