Disliked: Cleanliness
House ok, but bad smell and some unpleasent events with owners
The house is on the wonderful island of Sant’Antioco, with great beaches and two quite nice villages. The nearest beach (1,5 km, 5 min by car) is very nice and has a good restaurant/bar. The property has great outdoor areas with a large garden, multiple terraces with outdoor grills and a tennis court. For groups of multiple families the setup with three independent flats is great. If complete strangers were to share the house, I would miss some privacy.
However:
The two lower flats are in the basement have tiny windows in all bed rooms and close to no natural light – this I why you don’t see any windows on the pictures.
We were the first customers this year and there was a very bad smell in some of the lower rooms due to humidity from the winter (one mattress stank so much, we asked them to replace it – which they did).
Main problem for us: there were two issues when we felt not treated fairly.
When we arrived at 8.30 pm the beds were not ready (which in itself was annoying, as we were travelling with small kids). When we asked for linen they wanted to charge us extra - even though on the property page it says “linen and towels provided”.
Even worse. one day after checkout I unexpectantly got an e-mail, claiming we broke a chair and hid it “maliciously” by putting a cushion on it and that therefor 50€ would be detracted from the deposit (for a simple plastic chair). Actually the chair was broken when we came and we just did not notice it when moving in exactly because it was (maliciously?) hid by a cushion. Only after I called the owner, we got all the money back.
Conclusion:
Considering the price (approx.. €1,200 in off season) the house is ok and it is very nice to sit outside on the nice terraces and grill. Yet the issue of trust together with the bad smell in some of the lower rooms would keep us from returning.
