Great hotel. Going through a renovation. Big rooms with jetted tub and separate shower. Construction started way too early, though and they would not stop the banging when asked twice! This was very frustrating and unacceptable for a weekend visit. If this had not happened they would have received excellent across the board.

A very nice hotel with huge rooms. They are under renovation, so you have to go with that. Will be beautiful when done. The only down side is the parking situation. If you get in late, you have to look for parking on the street.

We come 3.75 hours to stay with the Carlton Hotel. Because visits have been for medical it has been our choice to stay here. There is no better choice!

If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would. Booked this place in September for a stay this weekend and when I arrived there they tell me they don't have reservations for me. When I show them my receipt with reservation number they proceed to tell me that they overbooked and don't have rooms available due to renovations being conducted where my room was supposed to be. Once again, I booked this place in September and was never notified about a cancellation and was never refunded. They sent me to a holiday inn express like 2 miles away; thank God I paid for the rooms upfront front because it forced them to have Holiday Inn bill them directly. The couple ahead of us who they did the exact same thing to was told that since they elected to pay at the hotel that their card would just not be charged and they could just pay the holiday inn out of pocket instead; problem is when we all booked our rooms a month in advanced. The day of room rates at the new hotel were 200% higher than what we original paid for day of booking...I will never try to stay at this hotel ever again.

Hotel is currently under construction and I was not notified. Everything about the stay ruined the night before my wedding. I can never get that experience back. Those awful memories are part of my wedding story. Including my guests to my wedding who stayed there. The carlton hotel should close down until the construction is done. Water leak, air conditioning not working, and a high pitched fire alarm going off all night every half hour. I got a refund for my stay, however, I'll always wonder what it would have been like if me and my family was well rested for my wedding day. The night was supposed to be a bonding night with me and my children before the special day, instead it was chaos.

Lovely historic hotel. Some renovations are being done but there was no disturbance from it. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

The rooms were very nice and large. It's being remodeled, but didn't impede our stay. The only negative is the amount of parking spaces they have which is across the street. Other than that, a good stay.

The room had been recently updated and there was an unpleasent oder in the room. Unfortunately the doors tobthe patio were stuck and I couldn't get them open. Additionally, the coffee maker was broken and that is never good to discover in the morning. The good news is that the staff was so nice and helpful, which is the norm at the Carlton.

Based upon previous stays at the Carlton, & the reason for going back is because of its “old world charm”….it has completely lost all that pizzazz. The new color green is horrible & the rooms are very corporate America & lacking class. The staff booked us right next door to construction, which began at 7:50 am!! We couldn’t get out of there fast enough & our next trip, No Thank You, we’ll stay in Paseo Robles.
