Mandy was very welcoming although we arrived later than anticipated. She was very helpful with information about guest house and area.
Andy who attended us for breakfast was very courteous, friendly and no request was a bother.
Our room and bathroom was very spacious, clean, and comfortable.
We only stayed one night but had such a lovely welcome and so well organised. A homely hotel that included breakfast with lots of choices…
A good place to explore and a fantastic beach although a car is advisable if not a fit walker. I’d definitely be going back there…

We could not have been made more welcome. Breakfast was amazing so much choice arrived piping hot, service was bang on.
Would recommend this to all my friends, good value, it was and excellent place to stay to explore the area.
Great place to stay. Mandy was a great host. She told me great areas to explore and very helpful. Slept great and no issues at all. Very quiet but I was the only one in the hotel.

The lady who showed us to our room was wonderful
Sadly we left all our breakfast due to the level of oil all over it. Beans and tomatoes mixed together and oily mushrooms and blackpudding. I did take pictures but it doesnt warrent me posting them.
A lovely little guesthouse however we wouldnt eat there again
Thanks
Stayed for two nights three of us two rooms. We found everything very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We were greeted by the owner who was very friendly and explained everything that we needed to know. The breakfast was superb and cannot fault it. Lots of little extra touches like cake in our rooms. Everything was well stocked with fresh milk and water daily. Would definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone and only 6 miles or so to Whitby.
Very peaceful, friendly and welcoming. Pet friendly too.
Excellent location for Runswick beach/village.
Lovely surprise too: butter, bread and jams all made on site. Lovely!
A surprise few days away to mark our 42nd wedding anniversay.
This guest house seems to have suffered badly since lockdown.
The pictures on the booking site don’t reflect how the place looks now - it’s very tired and untidy. In need of updating.
The staff are cheerful but it seems they are over worked even though the hotel was well under occupied during our stay.
Though they state they have an evening restaurant, this was closed due to staffing issues during our stay. Given the limited options in walking distance this did let us down a little.
We had a great break and the local area is what we came to see but this hotel really needs to work hard to get back to its former glory.
Amazing last minute find,
Fantastic breakfast / great location and Pet friendly (we didn't have pets and you could choose to dine in a pet free room if that's a problem for you)
Will definitely visit again. and yes the pathway 'back' uphill from Runswick Bay beach itself is a killer.. Choose to walk along the road back if you want to keep your heart rate steady..

Not for us. We paid £292 for 2 adults and 1 child for 2 nights. For what we paid we are very disappointed. The standard did not reflect the price. The reviews I read stated it was exceptional, it Is far from this. The room was dated, it smelt and breakfast was passable. We didn’t realise it was a place where dogs could stay too. The staff were friendly and the shower was good. Wouldn’t stay again.
Good location easy reach to runswick bay beach ( down a very steep hill). 15 mins drive from Whitby and 6 mins from Staithes beach. Had measures in place due to COVID. Allocated time for breakfast, evening meal was available if you wanted to eat there. Found the bed and pillows very hard (personal preference). Found the cost a little high as I have stayed in simililar 4 star hotel for half the price. ? This normal price or price post COVID reopening
Lovely hotel, with very friendly staff and the breakfast is fantastic.
The location is brilliant for dropping into the resorts nearby and if you get there early enough, there’s a gorgeous little beach at Runswick Bay.
The best breakfast I’ve ever had anywhere. Fabulous choice of fresh fruit, home baked bread, fish, traditional cooked breakfast, vegan and home made preserves. Outstanding.
