All of the workers were all so friendly and accommodating. The hostel is above a cool little restaurant that has very good prices. The location can not be beaten.
The property not well maintain, excellent location, but the hotel needs to be renovated, not worth the price I paid for the room, there were thousand of mosquitoes in the room, very disappointed, I would not come back here, not even a small tv in the room, overpriced.
The staff is always friendly and accommodating to guests. This is a no-frills property with an entertaining atmosphere and an unbeatable location complete with bar overlooking the Pacific.
The rooms were very small it was hard to regulate the shower temperature and too many young people making lots of noise in the hall outside my door some even tried to come into my room
DO NOT go by the pictures they have on Hotel's.com. We thought we were getting a room with a balcony only to get a room with NO window. They say they only have one room like advertised and it is always booked. Definitely very false advertising. This place is only good for a young backpacker who doesn't care about the type of room.
This is my go-to hotel when in Salinas. It has everything for the budget traveler: location, cleanliness, friendly staff, and a bar on the premises. Happily, evenings in the bar do not affect quiet areas for sleeping. I recommend Chesco's if you want an affordable, friendly, clean, air-conditioned stay in Salinas.
We stayed 3 nights and 2 of the nights we had great night sleep, especially seeing how it’s right in the middle of all the action. The last night tainted our stay as the couple making love next door were obviously in a cry for attention being very very loud. After over an hour at 12:30am we shouted for them to stop. Hot water was great, air con was also great. The reception staff were often expressionless and the bar doesn’t open until 7pm so you need to head elsewhere for sunset drinks overlooking the beach.
Hosts were nice, but that was the only nice thing.
Beds were so old, you basically slept on the supporting boards. I ended up putting one bunk mattress on top of the other, but then it was like sleeping in a hollowed out tree they were so sunken in and still hard. The shower is such in the tiny bathroom that the tile "edge" blends in with the rest of the floor, so we continually stubbed our toes. I finally put the garbage can and a towel there as a reminder which didn't work great since you have to throw your toilet paper in there and had no lid. Also, the furniture had very sharp corners, and was ill arranged so you slam your knees and chins on the corners just to get thru. I ended up rearranging the furniture too. The dishes were "self wash" and most of them were dirty and disgusting to use as was the community kitchen so u didn't cook there. There were lots of young, rowdy people there, so it was very loud late into the evening. The only nice thing besides the owners was the proximity to the beach which was right across the street.
Great hot shower, ( room 4). This funky little place has a lot of charm, mostly brought about by staff and guests. Cute lil smoking courtyard downstairs tends to contribute to party mode. Thanks to rolando, Bruno, Martin and Vicky. Would I recommend to a friend? Depends which friend.
The hostel had really nice, welcoming common areas. There was an amazing breeze wafting through the balcony where I enjoyed the hammock more than once. There was a very casual and relaxed atmosphere all the time, yet respect for other guests was always shown. Quiet times were respected. I would absolutely stay again. Maybe move in... :)
