The chateau was charming and may have gotten higher ratings if not looking run down. My room had stains in carpet and all carpets (hall and room) needed cleaning and walls in my room needed painting. I am sure the place was awesome when first remodeled. In all fairness, my bathroom was very clean.
Check-in was very awkward with codes needed for front door and separate one for the room. There was no employee on site to assist with anything. Probably better for young couples as this old lady had a hard time getting luggage up to the 2nd floor (20 steps). When I called I was assured of a first floor room but when I arrived I was told all that they had was 2nd floor.
Overall stay was wonderful! Only thing that I disliked was how difficult it was to wash my hair; it felt like I was rubbing it with sandpaper regardless of the amount of shampoo/conditioner I used. Other than that, staff was kind enough to find my missing necklace (thank you so much!!) and the area was beautiful. It was away from the busy city and it was very peaceful. I definitely would come back to stay again in the future and highly recommend staying here as a getaway. Close to the aquarium as well!
Great and unique experience living in a historic house. It’s located in a nice and pretty neighborhood. The setting is like a bed-and-breakfast but without breakfast. We were the first guests to arrive at the house. It’s a little scary if we were the only one staying in the house.
It was a great stay! We would come back any chance we get. The bed in 209 can be a bit softer. Otherwise its a great stay. A true beautiful hidden gem

The website where we booked listed this as a B&B which turned out otherwise. Since we were in the private cottage, we had to go over to the main house to have coffee even though there was a kitchen in our cottage. Also, the room with the queen bed was so small, the person sleeping against the wall has to crawl over the other person to get out of the bed. The cottage was clean but a strange room configuration.
Highly recommend the attic suite. The stairs are a little narrow but it’s well worth it once you get to the top floor. Would absolutely stay here again.
What a little gem! Didn't wanna leave this review because I'm selfish and don't want everyone to know about this lil secret, but the staff deserve just as much recognition as the Chateau. I was working in Salinas for the week but only booked one night because I was apprehensive, but immediately upon entering, Sweetie (staff member) made me feel at home, as if we've known each other forever. So I asked her to book the remainder the week and it has been the most quiet and secure place I've stayed in 25 years working in the area.
I loved this place. It was clean, quiet and the grounds were incredible.

The property is lovely and the staff is very friendly! The only thing is the WiFi was very spotty and we couldn’t get work done or watch movies. Also, the walls are pretty thin and you hear your neighbors so it’s a little loud. But the property is gorgeous and definitely worth the drive. It’s truly a unique experience!
This a quaint place, off the beaten path. I loved the old architecture and antique furnishings.
Very large bedroom and bathroom.
It will be at the top of my list for accomodatuons any time I am in the area.

Comfortable , but can needs improvement
Overall it was a good experience , but there were a few things that could have made my stay even better . This place does not have any staff at the property . You have to call a number provided at the door . Only then will you get the code to get inside the building and the code to your room . This place doesn’t have central heating . The hotel provides you with a small portable heater .
They also don’t have an elevator and the 20 steps to get to the second floor are very steep and that makes it even more challenging to carry your luggage upstairs . I did love the fact that this place is very clean and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The decor is exquisite and
This probably makes up for all the other services that are lacking .
