Take a glimpse back in time at Mount Edgcumbe House on historic Pointe Rapide Estate in the West Tamar Valley wine region. This award-winning and nationally recognised property is set on 37 acres of lush land with botanical gardens and
vineyard. This is an idyllic setting to completely unwind. Overlooking the Tamar River, this circa 1835 Georgian home has historic and archaeological significance, being one of the earliest homesteads to be built in Tasmania and indeed Australia. Inaccessible for many years, the homestead has been fully refurbished in the finest luxury and is now open to the public to enjoy.

Offering complete serenity, Mount Edgcumbe House comprises three individually styled, luxury ensuite bedrooms with bespoke wallpapers imported from London. The modern kitchen and laundry come equipped with the latest European appliances. Nestle in by the cosy wood fireplaces and take in the ambiance or indulge in a long luxurious soak in the clawfoot bath, capturing the views of the ever-changing Tamar River.

Breathe in the fresh air as you meander around the botanical gardens with walking tracks to the shore. Historic relics, the dam, an abundance of flora and fauna and the wraparound vineyard are yours to discover. Stroll along the 2km water's edge to watch the local sea eagles soar and the seals play and spend your days walking or cycling to the nearby Tamar Valley Wine Route vineyards.

There is plenty to see and do in Rowella and the surrounding region. Waterton Hall Wines, Iron Pot Bay Vineyard, Holm Oak Vineyard and the Lavender House Perfumery are all within walking distance. Beauty Point and Beaconsfield are only 15 minutes away. Visit these famous country towns and see the sights. Mount Edgecumbe House is located just a 45-minute drive from Launceston. A car is recommended for getting around and there is an abundance of parking space on the property.

We had a wonderful experience staying at this gorgeous property. Quite out of the way but this was OK for us. Check in was seamless. Kitchen was very well equipped and a wood burning fire added to the ambience. Dale , the property owner dropped by to say hello so was lovely to be able to meet him and have a chat.
