Hotel Bonaparte is in the heart of the actio in Rouen, walking distance to the cathedral light show, shops, cafes, cathedrals. The room was a typical French hotel room, but I must say - the most comfortable hotel pillows I encountered on my trip. Don't really understand how may hotels just don't get that it doesn't cost that much for a COMFORTABLE pillow (most are hard, thin, horrendously cheap lumpy abominations), but the Hotel Bonaparte had very soft, plump, comfie ones. Rouen is really cool, it was my favorite French city on our visit - DO NOT MISS the 11pm illuminated cathedral light show - we are artists and we found it AMAZING. Some artists made a few artistic projection films that fits the cathedral and it's WAY cool. Good little shopping street, cafes, some cool antique architecture and the Musee des Beaux Arts was FREE and FABULOUS. Don't miss having a snack or lunch in the BEAUTIFUL courtyard of the museum, surrounded by gorgeous statuary and two huge beautiful paintings. But BEWARE - driving in the central area of Rouen is AWFUL - one way streets, bus-only and bike-only lanes, it was a NIGHTMARE driving our rental car there. Must be a university there also because the local bars were packed with heavily drinking students. But overall, I highly recommend a visit to Rouen, if for the cathedral light show and Musee de Beaux Arts alone, but many positive attributes other than driving in the city center.
