The dirtiest rental I've ever been in.
While checking in here was easy and I appreciated the reminders about the check-in time and how to get in, that was the only good thing about this experience. I wish I could attach photos, because I am still in shock about how disgusting this rental was/is. There were clumps of dust on the ceiling fan, as well as other indications this place is WELL OVERDUE for a deep clean. Everything was dingy, the fridge was leaking, whoever has been cleaning it has either been sweeping dirt under the beds (as we found dust/dirt piled up along with a sock (!) and an empty soda bottle under ours. It was so disgusting I asked to be moved to another rental (which I took the time to find on the site) but instead they just refunded me the cleaning/Vacasa fees. It was so gross, while we had initially planned to cook some meals there we ended up eating out for every meal. I would have turned around and driven home except that my parents were on this trip with me and we had coast plans for the days we were there. I realize VRBO/Vacasa probably had no idea how gross this place was, but they did little to help other than a refund of their fees, which is better than nothing, but that still meant paying much more than this place was worth. I would have rather stayed in a hotel after seeing how terrible this place was. Aside from the dirty-ness of the rental, it was in a location that faces the highway, and while the beach is walkable, there is no good outdoor space. The shared space is a couple picnic tables that are located outside some of the other units, so they really don't seem like they're for anyone. The rental itself (other than how incredibly dirty it was) was just old and out of shape. The bathroom light wouldn't turn off, the fan turned off maybe on a timer but there was no control, there were zip ties as curtain holders, the bathroom shower was gross, and it was much smaller than the photos make it appear-you wouldn't be able to sit four people at the dining table without rearranging furniture (which was fine because it was so dirty and gross we didn't eat there anyway). I'm probably forgetting to mention things (like that there was old food crusted in the burner wells of the oven-that were lined in aluminum foil so it honestly would have been an easy thing for them to clean!) but just don't rent this place. This rental was over $600 for the time I stayed there, and I wouldn't have even paid $200 for how gross I felt the entire time we were there.

Amazing place to stay
We all loved staying at this place and will stay again. It worked out great. Pros , Right across the street from all the little stores and food market, a few houses from the ocean maybe a 3 minute walk. The beach and town wasn’t crowded at all and we went on memorial weekend to. The house worked good, not fancy but everything worked. It has a fenced in shared yard but my kids loved it and everyone was very nice. Couldn’t hear the neighbors even though they are very close. The train is right out front but again everyone loved it, and it only goes by a few times during the day. There is a laundry mat right down the road you can walk to. Cons , food was very expensive at the market. I would do your food shopping for your trip before you get to town at Fredmeyers or something. There’s no seasonings at the house either. AND the beds are very hard! I read that before and figured it would be fine but I woke up sore like an old lady. All in all I loved it.

Comfy stay!
We stayed at Starfish 1 for about 2 weeks. It was small but comfy, with 2 bedrooms and a futon couch. We had to move the coffee table around to lay the futon down, but that wasn't a problem. The bathroom could use a paint job, and there's no ventilation in it unless you open the window, so there's some mold around the ceiling, and the toilet leaks a little, but overall, no big deal. The beds are quite comfy and there's comfy pillows and bedding. My biggest complaint would probably be the parking - other rentals on the street would have multiple vehicles and they parked directly in front of our door, which presented a problem as my dad is disabled and can't walk far. I would suggest that a sign be hung on the front porch saying 'Starfish 1 parking', and something similar for the other rentals. Also, quick tip - the post office won't deliver mail to the address, so they told me next time to just have anything sent to 'General Delivery' instead of the address! Convenient location, with a market just across the street and the beach a couple of blocks away. All in all, a comfy stay!

They just don't care
Broken stove, leaking fridge, uncomfortable beds, awful livingroom and very run-down. We are quite happy in modest abodes but this was just run down, rickety, and haphazardly thrown together. We couldn't cook on the stove but didn't realize until the second night because we had takeout the first night. It would take very little investment to make it a much nicer stay for families. The photos paint a much rosier picture than reality. The futon couch was so uncomfortable just to sit on, let alone sleep on, that it made everybody angry, and we couldn't sit down and relax together. I wish we hadn't wasted 2 nights here as our only summer vacation.

Dirty. Poor cleaning procedures.
Bathroom sink and tub would not drain. Tub so full of hair and took several minutes for water to drain that was AFTER I pulled out a glob of hair from the drain . Top of the refrigerator was filthy the rugs were not moved and cleaned underneath, the bathroom floor near the sink appeared that it has not been swept nor mopped/washed in months, the tub/towels and bedroom linens had black hair all over.. I took some videos and photos as I was so disgusted and disappointed. I have NEVER left a poor review anywhere that I’ve stayed. I was so disappointed in this property. We reserved this property to stay at for a wedding in the area. When a customer is paying a cleaning fee I would say that it is a fair assumption that the property would be clean prior to the new guests arriving… This was clearly not the case. Basic cleaning needs to be taught to the Vacasa staff I’m rockaway beach, OR. I will be requesting my cleaning fee back.

good location, old buildings.
Booking somewhat late for the 4th of July holiday we were happy to reserve this unit. It worked fine for us. The location was great for fireworks: 1.5 blocks from the fireworks with great views from the courtyard, and one short block from the beach. . We had 3 small dogs and the grass courtyard enclosed by picket fence and gates gave a nice area for the dogs to wander in. The units are old and small and have a single outlet in each room. No dishwasher. The refrigerator either had a water leak or condensation causing an occasional trickle of water from under the fridge. Small spoons only in the drawer.. The bathroom is quite small although the shower in the bathtub worked well with hot water right away and nice flow. There is no good surface to put toiletries/medications in the bathroom. except for a small nook behind the shower. The queen sized beds were comfortable and filled most of the bedroom. Hard to access both sides of the bed in the second bedroom. We would be happy to stay there again if a nicer unit was not available. The location and fenced yard were perfect for us.

Deplorable!
We were NOT pleased, happy, nor satisfied with our stay in your unit. This was due to to DEPLORABLE conditions and FALSE advertising of this unit. We have photos to document the FACTS. We should receive a refund of at least 1/2 of our cost. DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS Bedrooms: Both bedrooms had pillows that were discolored with filth and stains. Kitchen: Refrigerator had puddles of water on the floor below the rusted door. Despite the controls, the interior temperature remained inadequate for food safety. Coffee pot leaked brewed coffee from the bottom of the appliance. One 6” fry pan only. One element on stove not working. Bathroom: Warped door would not shut Broken tiles, due to rotting subfloor around toilet and tub. Sink dislodging from wall. 2 and 1/2 rolls of toilet paper for 4 people and a 4 day stay. Parking: printed on our confirmation was “Dedicated spaces: 1”. This representation led us to believe we had a parking space. However the “1” space was actually shared by 4 units with multiple autos. Our confirmation was misleading. This unit was over priced due to its current condition and the false photos used to advertise it. We can send you our photos as proof if requested. We expect a reply, if none is received we will post the photos on line. We await your reply.

Strong mildew smell and dirty dishes.
This is an old property. There is a very strong mildew smell when you walk in. Although most of the surfaces looked fairly clean, there was still sand on the couch and many of the dishes were dirty when we pulled them out of the cupboards. The bathtub drain was completely full of hair.

Don't stay here
Very cold house, only one heater for main area. When we arrived it was so cold inside we had to wear our coats for hours and the heat was turned up. The floors were dirty, the table was sticky, under the bed in the front bedroom had layers of dust with some other persons socks. The whole house smelled like mildew. The only sitting area was a futon couch which was uncomfortable. It advertised to have a big screen TV but of course it was a smaller one. We didn't use any dishes because we felt they would be dirty and we would have had to wash them before we ate because they had no dish washer. We feel we were ripped off for the cost and will never use Vacasa again

Weekend Beach Trip
The house was close to the beach and downtown Rockaway. It was a bit difficult to find when we came in at night. Maybe better signage? The house itself was clean except for under the bed and around the sofa. The house was cold at night but there were heaters which turned off at night. Overall, it was a pretty good stay!

Great location but not very clean
We liked the location, close to the beach, 2bedroom unit for us and 2 kids and a fair price. However we came in at night and unit not well lit/described in how to find as we thought someone else was in our unit but ended up being ok. The unit was not well cleaned, dirty washcloth in bath tub, toilet still dirty, and food on microwave front, and sides of table. Table very wobbly with crack down leg of table and cushions of seat ripped up upon arrival. Otherwise cute place to stay in hub of rockaway.

Nice little place in Rockaway
This is a nice little property for a getaway to the coast. The listing and photos were accurate. No laundry or dishwasher which is fine but was initially confusing with the Vacasa directions of "helping out" by starting a load of wash or dishes. It is an older place, right near the main part of town and around the corner from beach access which was great. Parking is a bit limited you can park on the street so it worked out great for us. It had all the kitchen necessities so it was easy for us to make our own meals while we were there. I would stay here when we get back to Rockaway again for a visit.

The location was absolutely fantastic. However the house was in very poor condition felt like the bathroom floor was falling through the house. And I understand that it’s a small older beach home. And everything was extremely dusty and dirty. I definitely liked the town and would stay again in Rockaway but I will find a different VRBO

Not as nice as photos make it look
Probably built as a motel and converted to vacation rental. Unit is very small. It was a torrential downpour when we arrived. Once we got inside, we realized there was absolutely no place to hang our dripping wet raincoats. There is not a single closet anywhere in the unit, not even coat hooks on a wall. Wanted to hang our coats in the tub because they were so wet but because there isn't a closet in the unit, there are no coat hangars, or anything to use to hang a coat/garment from. If it was southern California where rain is rare, that would be one thing. But this is the Oregon coast where it rains more often then not.

cozy shack
The Starfish 1 was a very clean, well-located unit. The bedrooms are quite small and cozy, there is cable TV, and the shower had good water pressure. The kitchen has all the appliances one needs. We were a little short on silverware. We had four adults (family), and it felt a little crowded. Also, it faces the railroad tracks and Hwy. 101 so it got noisy at times. If you're mainly going to be out and about and just need the basics, it's perfect.
