Arena Ipanema is an excellent choice for a hotel stay. Nice clean rooms. Included breakfast is a nice bonus. Great location, quick walk to Ipanema Beach, a lot of restaurants nearby. Staff was very nice from check in to check out (including housekeeping). They were quick to address the sudden loud noise coming from guests upstairs. The young lady at the front desk always had a genuine ready smile whenever we passed by. Shout out to David Santos who would stay with us outside and chatted as we waited for Uber. You can tell he genuinely loved interacting with the hotel guests. We highly recommend this hotel.

This was my 5th stay at Arena, unfortunately it was not the best. More cold showers than hot, when I complained the maintenance came within minutes and said the heating had been off for a period. Same problem repeated every day. My business colleague in a different room experienced the same issue. The lifts were completely broken for several hours and suffered from random unavailability in the day following the issue. The hotel leaks when it rains, experienced this in previous stays and again on my last day. Lucky not directly impacted by this, this time. There was an attempt by a young man to smash through a glass wall into the hotel at 2:38am but he ended up cut up and bleeding as shards of glass rained down upon him. Not the hotels fault but security did take a long time to investigate what was going on. As a regular traveller to Rio I’ll give them one more chance because of previous enjoyable stays but cold showers are unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be 4 stars.

The hotel is well located, albeit beside an alley road that takes you to the Arpoador beach - not the top destination if you are in Rio. The vast large display of police and military police on the ground, helicopters and policemen in patrol cars and bikes

When we entered the hotel, I was immediately impressed by its impeccable cleanliness and modern design. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Ipanema is conveniently located just a short walk from the beach, shops, and restaurants.

5/5 would absolutely stay here again. The hotel is super nice and not too $$. Rooftop is very cool. Cute little pool with some tables to sit. Location is 10/10... legit right on the beach Arpoador. Security - very safe. They are super strict after 11pm... have to show your face to a camera to unlock the door and any visitors not on the reservation have to check in at front desk and show ID/passport. Room - very nice and modern. Clean, nice showers. Front desk was very helpful with activities such as helicopter tour and how to get to sugarloaf and christ. Breakfast was delicious and nice buffet. I am staying here next Rio visit, no doubt!!

The hotel and service are excellent and the location is fabulous. A couple of suggestions to make it even better: 1. The shower in our room (804) leaks flooding the bathroom. Could this be fixed? 2. Coffee and tea facilities as well as a paper tissue box are standard amenities that were missing. 3. The hotel is by the beach, yet there is no shower or even a tap by the entrance, forcing guests to enter the lobby and their rooms covered in sand. 4. There are no umbrellas for the guests, and we were forced to leave under the rain (again, a standard amenity. Apart from those details, everything was perfect.

Top staff and a perfect location

The staff at the hotel are awesome!The.location is amazing. I was only there for one night for business. I realty didn’t get a chance to even get to the rooftop. They acknowledged all my Gold benefits and gave me an early check in and late checkout. When I have to go back to Rio, I will definitely return to this hotel. Highly recommend!
