Sunny, private room in friendly house. This is an 8 acre working farm where you can build a fire in the fire pit or BBQ. You'll be greeted by our turkey who will court you with tail feathers ablaze as he struts his regal welcome. Try your hand at egg collecting, and if you're so inclined you can pet and feed the birds. We’re on a private lane just one mile from the interstate 5 corridor for easy access to Portland, Vancouver, hiking, boating...one foot in the country and one foot in the city.
The space
Our property is located in the rolling hills of Ridgefield, WA. Close to WSU, Washington State Fairgrounds, Ilani Casino, Paradise Point State Park, and the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, just 30 minutes from downtown Portland, and 12 mins from Downtown Vancouver. Parks, great views, wonderful local, farm fresh grocery stores, and fun restaurant dining opportunities.... You’ll love our place because of the location which offers the quiet, rustic, pastoral joys of the country whilst having easy access to the city - just 1.75 miles from Interstate 5. Chickens and ducks offer fresh eggs, and the horses out in the pasture are all part of the pastoral experience here. The views are spectacular and you will immediately relax leaving the stress of the city behind. The outdoor space offers a fire pit for evening campfires, and a rustic porch rocking chair to remind you of a simpler life.. A great place for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families with kids.
Guest access
We're happy to share coffee or tea. A Microwave is available and some refrigerator space as needed. If we're cooking, we're happy to share. We make a mean pot of hearty oatmeal with nuts & blueberries, but otherwise, no promises of breakfast. You can pick fresh strawberries, blueberries & raspberries in season. We have a bbq available for your use, but we prefer to limit kitchen time for our guests as it can become problematic with “too many cooks in the kitchen.” Limited kitchen use means quick meal prep like heating something that’s already prepared, or washing vegetables and fruit… thanks for your understanding.
Warmly,
Your Hosts Suzanne and Steve
Other things to note
Quiet abounds and you'll hear owls hooting, bull frogs croaking, crickets chirping, and occasionally coyotes. We will greet you and ask how we can make your stay more comfortable. If we're cooking, we will sometimes offer farm to table breakfast, share a spot of tea or drinks on the deck and casual entertaining. If you prefer privacy, we respect that too.
We ask that everyone observe quiet times between 10 pm and 7 am.
Thanks!
