About this space
Lots of room to unwind and relax on Lower Rideau Lake with the whole family. Watch the sunset from the hot tub or the dockside couch; roast marshmallows on the fire pit; canoe, fish or swim in the lake, jump on the water trampoline or read a book in the screened in porch. So much to do and explore if you want to or simply sit back and enjoy the gorgeous views. Many scenic towns to explore: Rideau Ferry 5 min (so many antique stores!); Smiths Falls 10 min; Perth 15 minutes; Westport 35 min.
The space
Our year round retreat offers 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 full, 1 powder room), a large great room with 65in TV, DVDs, many popular family games, books, popcorn machine and panoramic views of the lake. There is a wood burning fireplace for those chilly nights where you can lounge by the fire. The great room is open to the kitchen and dining areas, which feature a pool table, large island, dishwasher, double farmhouse sink and a 36" pro range.
There are dishes, glasses, cups, cooking utensils, pots/pans, crock pot, coffee maker, spices, dish/dishwasher soap, etc. If you are looking for something specific, please don't hesitate to ask.
The dining area opens to both a screened in porch, with a large deep-seated sectional, and a large deck with outdoor dining table, lounge chairs, gas BBQ and hot tub.
There is a separate playroom with an additional 70 in TV, xbox, basketball net and toys.
Our waterfront area has so much to offer with a large fire pit, a small beach area, a water lily mat and a Rave water trampoline with log and water slide. There is a sectional on the dock that has nice shade during the day with additional adirondack chairs and a bar area with 4 outdoor bar stools behind the couch. You will see the most stunning sunsets each night.
Guests can use the canoe, kayak, or stand up paddle board (lifejackets must be worn). There are some life jackets at the cottage, but please bring your own to ensure correct sizing. Bring your fishing rods as there is amazing fishing right off the dock and on the nearby shoal. We keep our boats and seadoos on the dock, which are off limits to guests, but should you want to bring your own boat and require the use one of our hydraulic boat lifts, one can be made available for an additional fee. There is a swim ladder off the end of the dock for easy access in and out of the water.
The cottage has central air conditioning and we are heated by propane and wood pellets and fireplace in the colder months.
The Cataraqui Trail is 5 minutes away; it is a year-round, multi-use trail. In spring, summer and fall it welcomes everyone from hikers to cyclists. In winter it is open to snowmobilers and cross-country skiers.
Guest access
We have 4 parking spaces up by the garage and another 3 down below. The garage is not accessible to guests. Some closets are locked for owner storage. The cottage has 5 bedrooms (2 are locked), but only the three pictured in the listing are available to guests.
We are on a private cottage road; please respect the posted speed limit.
