Host & Stay | The Old Brewery

Summary:
In the heart of the historic market town of Richmond lies this beautiful newly-renovated, Grade II listed property, The Old Brewery. The house features six bedrooms, with four en suites and a family bathroom, as well as spacious living areas, a games room and a newly-fitted kitchen. In the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, The Old Brewery is ideal for large get-togethers and walkers looking to experience some of the UK’s finest natural scenery.

The Space:
On the ground floor, you’ll find a newly-modernised kitchen, mixing the stylish grey theme of the house with quality brass fixtures and fittings. It has everything you need with an integrated dishwasher, fridge freezer and oven in this wonderful cooking space. The property also boasts an additional utility room and larder space with breakfast bar seating. Move through to the dining room and you’ll find a grand solid wood table and industrial style chairs with seating for 12 guests, creating an ideal setting for dinners together after a long day. On this floor there are also two lounge areas with a range of welcoming sofas and armchairs offering plenty of seating and relaxation space. On top of this, there’s a separate games room with a pool table for families and friends to enjoy, and you’ll also find the first king size bedroom, with en suite toilet facilities, on this floor.

Follow the unique and upcycled artwork that helps give the property its character up the stairs to the first floor, where a further five classically decorated bedrooms await. There are 3 king rooms, one double and one twin room. Each room also features signature piece furniture and plenty of storage for your clothes and accessories during your stay. Carrying on the property’s industrial but welcoming theme in each, three of the bedrooms also have modern en suite showers or baths. There’s also a spacious and modern family bathroom for everyone to use.

Outside the rear of the property is a quaint courtyard space, peaceful enough for soaking up the summer sun, or for al fresco dining and evening drinks at the new outdoor furniture being introduced.

For those bigger groups needing even more space, The Old Brewery also has a separate property within its grounds, which is available to book. The Annexe provides an additional three king size bedrooms in a self-contained property, so booking both together would give room to sleep up to 19 or 20 guests. This would be perfect for large walking groups, or friend and family get togethers, so please call our team to discuss booking both properties.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe, details of which will be provided prior to your stay.

Limited free on-street parking is available outside the property. A reasonable pay & display car park is also located nearby.

The Neighborhood:
The Old Brewery is in the heart of the picturesque market town of Richmond, close to the banks of the River Swale. From the property you are just moments away from a range of independent shops, cafés and pubs in the beautiful cobbled market place, as well as the spectacular Richmond Castle – one of the finest surviving Norman castles in the UK. So, if you’re planning on taking it easy while you’re here, there’s plenty to see and do right on your doorstep.

But, like many others, you may prefer to spend your time getting out and about walking or cycling - and what better place to do it than the stunning Yorkshire Dales. As part of the famous Coast-to-Coast route, Richmond is the perfect stopping point for those taking on one of the most scenic walking challenges in the country.

Or if you’re after some one-day routes, you’re spoiled for choice with paths to Easby Abbey and different length walks following the riverside, all starting from right near the property. You’re also just a short trip from longer routes around Marske and Marrick, as well as Whitcliffe Wood – so there’s something for everyone.

Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed by your surroundings. From waterfalls and caves, to flowing fields and quaint villages, a trip around the Dales is sure to be one you remember.

Getting Around:
If you’re travelling by train, the nearest mainline station is 12 miles away in Darlington. From here you can reach London, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Not what it seems
The Old Brewery is im the beautiful medieval market town of Richmond. There are numerous walks in the area, several delightful pubs amd restaurants, and it is a great base for exploring North Yorkshire. The property itself, though, needs some work. The kitchen and dining room are beautiful. The living rooms are extremely comfortable (with the exception of one chair). The bedrooms and bathrooms each have their quirks and drawbacks. We had to repair one bed during our stay. Several doorknobs were loose and one of our party briefly got trapped in a bathroom. There is no key to the rubbish bins (and one neighbor stated thst she had called the property manager numerous times about this issue). The biggest issue for our party of 12 international travelers on a two week holiday to the UK was that the washer and dryer were not in operation. The dryer only blew cold air and the washer wasn't even hooked up to water. The laundry shed was filthy. We ended up spending over a hundred pounds at the local cleaners to have our clothes washed and dried. We notified the property manager of this issue two days into our stay, and despite numerous assurances that a maintenance team would come and look at it, no one ever arrived. I now have to fill out more paperwork in order to get any compensation from the company. Host and Stay is not a good managemeny company and they do not do anything to help their customers or their properties' neighbors.
