This 5-bedroom/3.5 bathroom cottage w/hot tub & loaded rec room sleeps up to 12 & is in rural Lee Township 1 Mile from the E shore of Upper Scott Lake. Just a short drive away from the Lake Michigan coastal communities of South Haven, Saugatuck & Holland. Chicago is 2.5 hours & Detroit is 3 hours. Perfect for families!

The Space:
Maple Woods Hideaway is a secluded retreat nestled in the woods of rural Allegan County, just 12 miles from the charming coastal Lake Michigan town of South Haven. The house has a full kitchen, dining area, comfy living room with large-screen TV, 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, screened porch with dining area, front deck with seating, 4-person hot-tub (always available, even in the winter), huge park-style all-season charcoal grill (BYO charcoal & starter fluid!), rec room with pool/foosball/air hockey/50 & 55" UHD TVs/full bathroom/sofa/fridge, fire pit with seating, and nearby (One Mile Away) lake access which includes a private swimming area with private dock and free use of our canoe.

Guest Access:
You will have access to the entire property. Guests have the flexibility to gain convenient access to our home via the keypad entry system any time after the designated check-in time on their scheduled arrival date. Upper Scott Lake, a mile away, offers a private swimming area, dock, and canoe for guests.

Nestled on a peaceful, wooded lot near Scott Creek in Lee Township, Michigan, Maple Woods Hideaway offers a serene retreat to enjoy Michigan’s four seasons. Relax by the lake, explore vibrant autumn colors, or immerse yourself in the refreshing blooms of spring. Located just 10-15 minutes from Crane’s Orchards and Dutch Farms for delicious pies and fruit picking, and near Fennville Winery for tours and tastings, there’s plenty to explore nearby. Antique lovers will find treasures in South Haven, Allegan, Douglas, Saugatuck, and along Blue Star Highway. In summer, enjoy dune rides, South Haven’s beaches, local fruit picking, and art galleries.

Getting Around:
To explore all the amazing spots in Southwest Michigan, you’ll definitely need a car! We're conveniently located to coastal towns—15 minutes from downtown South Haven, 20 minutes from Saugatuck, and 25 minutes from Holland.
Please note: We currently don’t offer electric vehicle (EV) charging on-site. Attempting to charge an EV does damage our electrical system, any violations will incur a $400.00 fee plus any repair costs. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly!

Other Things to Note:
Wi-Fi internet is provided by AT&T, but they only offer limited speeds best suited to web browsing & checking email. More than a few connected devices at a time will cause lag. We provide satellite TV & DVD players for all our homes since video streaming is not an option.
Loud parties with excessive alcohol/drug use are not allowed. All drinking games are prohibited. Township-mandated quiet hours are from 10 PM-8 AM daily. We ask that nothing be stuck to our walls since this will damage the paint. You may not use tinsel, glitter, confetti, feathers, etc. during your stay since these leave a mess that is hard & time-consuming for our small staff to clean up.
No EV charging, smoking, fireworks, vaping, marijuana use, or pets/animals. No exceptions.
Note: Our docks, watercraft, gas grills & outdoor dining furniture are not available Oct 25-Apr 15.

TOP NOTCH Property!!!
I can't say enough about this property! The homeowners were very responsive to my (many!) questions prior to going. The property manager was also very responsive to my questions while we were there. She got back to me immediately each time. The home was very neat and clean. All of the rooms were exactly as pictured, there were no surprises. There were plenty of bathroom and kitchen supplies provided. The kitchen table was large enough to accommodate all of us for meals and board games (8 pp). The rec room was a huge hit which was no surprise. It was what attracted us to this home. But we didn't use it much because we spent most of our time at the dock. It was such a short drive that we could easily go back to the house to grab something quick or use the bathroom. The boys enjoyed fishing and there were many local options to purchase live bait. We pre-arranged for kayaks to be delivered. Everyone agreed that this was their favorite thing. The property itself has a huge yard so we were able to set-up our cornhole game. The pavilion and picnic table were shaded for our meals. The fire pit at the home was by far the best one that we've had at a VRBO home. It requires A LOT of wood because it's huge, and finding it locally was challenging, so plan ahead. Our only negative was the neighborhood, it was run down, but we never felt unsafe or concerned, and the home occupies so much property that you don't even notice that when you're there. GREAT RENTAL!!!

Comfortable home surrounded by unpleasant neighborhood and not on a lake
My family stayed here over Christmas weekend. The home very comfortably accommodated 6. The game room is very cool and was enjoyed by many. There are no real trails to walk and the lake is a drive from the home. The surrounding area/homes were rough.

We stayed in this home for my sons wedding. It was perfect for what we needed. Clean, spacious and plenty of room. They had every thing we needed there. Watching the deer roam around was a bonus.

Nice place
Nice place, overall. It was pretty much as the other reviewers have said. Lots of space for 7 adults and one child. The house was a bit difficult to find but the dock was easy to locate. The outdoor space was nice too. Saw some deer in the morning.The only negatives were that the mattress in the back bedroom needs replacing as it is pretty uncomfortable, and there was what looked and smelled like mold on the vanity in the bathroom inside the game room. We had to air it out and keep the bathroom door closed before spending time in there.

Lovely spacious wooded hideaway
Great place for family reunion. Well laid out and stocked kitchen with huge table to accommodate our group of 8 adults and one toddler. Lovely porches to sit on. 20 minutes from South Haven and near several local breweries and nice you-pick farms.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Maple Woods Hideaway. We loved so much about it and would like to share a few things. The kitchen was so spacious and had everything you would need to cook with down to crockpot, roasting pan, and not just 1 cutting board but several and we needed them. There was so much cupboard space for our food and that helped keep the counters clear. The supply of dishes and coffee cups were awesome and we never ran out of clean dishes with our large group. We all were able to seat around the big table and eat together. The hot tub was perfect temperature and the shower in the game room was great for rinsing off. Having the game room was a big plus and liked that it was detached from the house to keep noise level down inside house. We drove into South Haven and Saugatuck and visited a few wineries which were so close. I would defiantly stay here again if I wanted privacy and away from the towns.

Great house
The house was spacious, clean, and well stocked. We really enjoyed the lake and beach as well, it is a (very) small beach but great for our small kids. We fit three families in the house easily. Not far from Saugatuck or South Haven, so we spent time there as well. Only issue we had was a smoke alarm going off in the middle of the night (low batteries) and it took us a while to turn it off, and we did not receive new batteries the next day as requested. Otherwise the house manager was very responsive, and we overall enjoyed our time at the house.

We all had a wonderful time, from my 94 year old mother to my 2 year old grand daughter. We didn't have any problems and enjoyed the peace and solitude of the surroundings. And Elizabeth came through with guaranteeing us great weather.

Private, great features, close to Lake Michigan
We really loved the property! Private location with no neighbors on either side. Nice sized yard, very nice fire pit, outdoor hot tub, game room! It was perfect for adults and young kids. Got to see some wildlife in the yard (deer, toads, fireflies, etc.). About 20 min or so from Lake Michigan/South Haven and spent a day on the beach there. Great instructions about check in/out, rules, etc. Easy to get in communication with property managers. Loved it.

Perfect House, Great Host!
I’m so happy our group chose this house! To start off with the millions questions we all had, the host Kim was great and quick at answering them all. Now with the house.. it is exactly what is shown in the picture! The cleanliness in the house was above expectations. Each room was set up perfect for everyone! Next time we hope to stay longer! We enjoyed our stay at the house. The kids loved spending time in the detached game room which was nice and quiet for the adults in the house. We enjoyed the firepit and the hot tob as well. The house was pretty clean when we arrived and the house manager was quick to respond to any questions we had. There was a ton of land around the house. Weather didn't turn out as nice as we hoped to be able to use the boats we rented, but house manager told us there was a resident snake you had to scare away before going in - totally turned us off to going there. We went to both Saugatak and South Haven - both about a 20 minute drive. Wish it was closer, but we booked late in the season. Overall a great stay.

Great place to make memories with big families.
Perfect for what we were looking to do. Going to South Haven beaches was our main objective and it was a quick 20 min drive. The fire pit and large outside area in back yard was perfect for the kids to play and eat s’mores. Every kitchen gadget needed was there along with the high chair and pack n play which came in handy! Game room and hot tub were used daily and enjoyed by the whole family. 3 and a half bathrooms were great and the xtra long kitchen table was great. I would recommend this house to others with bigger families. Only complaint is directions on driving apps have wrong street names so a lil tricky to find. Clean, peaceful, quaint property!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying here! It was very clean, spacious and exactly as advertised. We had plenty of paper products, garbage bags, dish soap and laundry detergent. That’s not typical in a rental, so it was much appreciated! The game room was awesome! I would stay here again.

Beautiful, well managed property with value for money
We stayed over Memorial Day weekend with families and kids, and everyone had a great time! The house was professionally clean when we checked in. Plenty of provisions, thoughtful amenities for comfortable stay, entertainment and indoor and outdoor activities. Access to the lake and the boats, the fire pit, bbq, hot tub, entertainment room and the number of beds all ensured that the guests can focus on relaxing. We’ll surely be back and I’ve already recommended the property to a few friends! Secluded and quiet
This location was tucked away and very quiet. The house was mostly clean aside from what looked to be dirt on the shower curtain in a bathroom. Waze struggled finding the address, but it helped that the property was marked with a sign at the road. Overall our stay was nice!
