very old hotel 1792, 4 light sockets in room and 1 bulb, when asked for 2 bulbs for bedside reading, apparently not available.
breakfast was 2 stale bread rolls small square of jam and butter, and passable coffee.
laundry service was quick and cheap $7 for 4.5kg, and yes they weigh the bag of clothes with a small mechanical fish scale.
there is a truly great restaurant next corner down and left half a block.
the location is great and atmosphere colonial, heating supplied 730pm to 730am with column heater.
The staff are friendly and helpful, but strict in rules, similar to Singapore experience.
I am glad though that we had a room with bathroom off the main square, as twin room at back without was pokey and dismal, and there were dormitories as well.
