We had a wonderful experience and appreciated the owner showing us the beautiful sanctuary. We will recommend your place to anyone coming to Porto. At checkin, it would have helped to know the Bistro existed. You may also consider safety strips on the bottom of the bathtubs. Overall, our experience was tremendous.

The staff are wonderful! The property is beautiful. Our room was average-3 star hotel room. The bed was awful. The shower was great. Minimal room for toiletries. It did have a fridge and a safe. AC worked well. We did not get a room with all the ornate furniture. I guess that’s up to availability when you get there. The area is far from city center if you want to walk. It’s a good 35-40 minute walk. There is a metro station 5 minutes away walking.Overall good stay but due to the distance and the bed we would not come back.

Reception staff was very nice and had great suggestions about places to see ,eat etc Room was good size and clean Parking is on premises 12 euros per day ( gated) Hotel has gates that open by the code, convenient,safe and walkable everywhere . Loved the garden and patio chairs everywhere .Hotel was combo of modern and unique old style Breakfast was lovely and had fancy area where buffet style was served .Breakfast host was lovely and kind to explain about traditional desserts they had on menu . He event went extra mile to save me one of traditional desserts on my day 2 . I thought breakfast area felt like I went for high tea every day , absolutely amazing

Although this property was a 25 mins walk from the main attractions, it was easy to park here which was one of the reasons why we chose it. We were in a more modern room that was not located in the main castle and the room was quite spacious and clean. The big negative about this property for me though was how uncomfortable the bed was and this was the reason for my 6/10 rating. It felt like there was no padding between me and the springs in the mattress. I have never slept on such a terrible mattress in my life. The only reason I was able to tolerate staying here for the 2nd night was that I found a thick blanket in the closet which I folded and placed between the mattress and the bed sheet. Honestly, I was surprised that such a nice hotel had not invested in better mattresses. They should at least add a memory foam mattress topper. I would not stay in this hotel again unless I knew they had fixed the mattress issue.

Inside the confines of the beautiful hotel vacility and grounds it was wonderful. Everything was secure the staff was great. The breakfast (included) was excellent. We loved everything about the hotel and grounds. The only thing negative would be the distance to the historical area (2km) and the area around the hotel was a little sketchy. All said… it was a wonderful stay.

It is a unique accommodation. It looks like a castle and has wonderful outside areas to lounge in. The update has been done very tastefully and the rooms are well appointed. The breakfast was outstanding. This was a wonderful find!

Porto stay and day cruise on the Douro to Pinhau.
A lovely 18th century hotel set in lovely grounds. The old and the new blended exceptionally well. Attention to detail was second to none. The staff were friendly, helpful and provided useful information on where and what to visit. Short walk from a metro station. A definite place to stay in Porto, just so charming.

An amazing stay. Very convenient location near the metro and secure parking is on offer at a small price. A beautiful breakfast every day. The only small detail was that the toilet stopped flushing the last night we were there but will have been fixed for the next guests no doubt.
