The roof caved in on the property before we arrived. The place was unsafe to stay. They refused to refund our money. We had to spend three days trying to find another place to stay in a foreign country thousands of miles away from home. The management there is the worse I have ever seen. I wish I could some how give a worse review. They are thieves. They pretty much stole our money.
The apartment is just great. The only inconvenience is the bedroom which is on loft and you have to keep your head all the time, but we were for only one night stay and used it just for sleeping. The apartment is on a great location, close to everything, we did a self check in which was very convenient, the instructions were completely clear and also we asked for instructions for free parking, it was like 400 meters, so for us was great. We recommend it. Pienza is amasing!
Ok, first off great location. Awesome town and decent 500ish year old building. Cozy. But the check in site office is not the same location as the room. It is around the corner, on the left side of the restaurant that is in the street. Number 4. Be careful where you park, most of the city unpaid parking is residents only and has a 125 euro fine.
I’m not a high maintenance traveler and I do understand that places in Europe are old but this place was far below even basic expectations. The photos and descriptions made it seem more like a regular b&b but it’s actually an apartment style attic room with an old broken down mattress. See pics. The room was cold, had a broken sink, and was furnished more like a hostel. Worst night in any hotel.com I’ve ever booked. I’m truly baffled by the other reviews. Be ware if you stay here and know what you’re getting. It’s located at the end of a busy street. You will not enjoy scenes as depicted in the website. Rather an old tile roof. Breakfast included decomposing apples. Service was fine and friendly. I feel bad for leaving a poor review but it’s honest and I wish someone had warned me before I booked.
Carla, the owner, is amazing and very helpful. The location couldn't be better, and the historical building is just a delight to stay in. The only downside was that the mattress on the bed was not particularly comfortable for me. Note: it is on an upper floor, so you will have to go up 2 or 3 flights of stairs - but that is part of the charm of historical buildings...
This was a wonderful place to stay in Pienza. Carla messaged us on WhatsApp a day before our arrival to check in with us about our arrival time. She was very helpful and recommended good local wineries. Good breakfast attended by a few personnel at the hotel. Only slightly bad thing was that the room we stayed in had an incredibly low slanted ceiling and I knocked my head on it pretty good a few times. Would stay again though, gladly!
Antica Locanda is in the heart of Pienza and a great place to stay! The only downfall was the air conditioner wasn't in our room the first night and when it was on, it wasn't that strong. I would highly recommend this place!
Comfortable accommodation within the village walls
Great accommodation in authentic medieval building, just amazing!
Carla, our hostess was very friendly and gave lots of information on what to do in Pienza, very helpful.
Our room, on the third floor, was spacious and had a view over the valley which we loved. An adequate continental breakfast was included and served by lovely staff.
My only suggestion would be to provide water and wine glasses in the room along with tea and coffee making facilities. Otherwise a very pleasant stay and Pienza itself is a beautiful city with many shops, wine bars and restaurants and so much history. The Pienza community should be very proud and commended on the way their town is presented.
Good hotel with a great view. Like the breakfast. Kitchen is very convenient for a family trip. Two minor things: Wi-Fi is a little bit slow and twin bed is small.
Our host was very welcoming with a wealth of knowledge concerning the sights and history of the area. The building is steeped in history. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful.
This is a cute B&B in a cool historic building. The rooms have nice antique furniture and are spacious as is the bathroom. Pienza is a charming town with breathtaking views. The service we received at this hotel was outstanding. Carla called us the day we checked-in to inquire about our arrival time to make sure everything would be ready when we got there. She was friendly and helpful in providing information about the town and local restaurants. We were greeted the next morning with the most divine smelling fresh baked pastries prepared by Maria, who was both delightful and attentive. The entire staff made us feel at home. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Carla and Maria for a wonderful visit.
Sweet home away from home in best location in Pien
Wonderful stay in Pienza, beautiful easily walkable walled town with blue bus nearby just outside the old town, 5 minute walk. Sweet guesthouse amongst the rooftops, wonderfully appointed. But the best part was the wonderful hostess, Barbara, who made me feel most welcome and at home. Loved my stay. Gracias, Barbara
Let's be honest. Venice is an overly over-priced city. So even pigeon-holes mascarading as hotel rooms are going to expensive. And that's what we got at Pausania. I had specifically urged them that this was our honeymoon: make it special. They even responded in agreement. But what we got was a room in the attic. Yes it was clean and had a great bathroom - no way however to stand and bathe though as the roof over your head inclines to the base of the bathroom! That was the killer. And it's the same story in the room. So basically since its a true Venetian building you get that experience but its only HALF the experience. So: ensures have not booked the attic. We checked the other rooms. And they were gorgeous!! With lovely rooms that had gorgeously painted ceilings.
Also senior citizens beware: no lifts. No bell boys. Loads to climb. So travel light
What a charming little hotel in a fairytale hill town in Tuscany. The owner was a delightful lady who couldn't do enough to be more welcoming. Don't expect the comforts of a 5 star hotel. You come here for the charm of an attic room with exposed beams and leaning ceilings that follow the roof line, and the wonderful views of lush rolling Tuscan hills when you open the window.
