Silver Mountain Cabins #2 (sleeps 9)

Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly place. Silver Mountain cabins are located within the Ottawa National Forest and the Keweenaw Peninsula. Close to hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, rock hounding and premier hunting. Located 28 miles from Michigan Tech and 10 miles from Lake Superior. Enjoy a peaceful retreat just down the road from Silver Mountain and the Sturgeon River Falls. Our welcome book contains information for hiking trails as well as other things to see and do while visiting.

This cozy private cabin is yours to fully utilize. The main floor of the cabin has one bathroom, one bedroom with a Queen bed and one twin bed and one bedroom with two twin beds. There is also a loft area with one Queen bed and two twin beds, and the cabin can sleep up to nine people comfortably. All of our mattresses and bedding have been recently updated for a great night sleep. Please note that dining area seats six people, and living area has seating for three people. The cabin includes a private fire pit area right outside the back door.
If you need to work remotely, we have you covered. While cell service is limited, we have fiber internet to each cabin allowing you to work remotely, and call over wifi. Each cabin has it's own router and network name/password. The cabin also has two Roku tv's and plenty of books and games for our guests to enjoy.
This private cabin is on a property with other cabins and a private fire pit. The property is vast and you are welcome to explore all of the shared outdoor spaces, including the 22 acres up to the adjoining Ottawa National Forest. Guests are free to use the shared grill and picnic area, or explore the orchard, garden, or trails. There is one other guest cabin as well as our two private cabins on the property.

Our area is beautiful and serene with some of the best star views in the world (we may be biased). Because we are in the National forest and in the UP, there are plenty of wildlife and bugs as well, especially in the evenings and near our pond. Please be prepared for mosquitos, flies, ladybugs and other! We regularly treat in order to keep our guests comfortable, but because we are in the woods and in the UP, bugs happen. We're happy to treat, lend bug spray, or run a vacuum mid-stay if one of our guests is uncomfortable. We have chickens on the property and love to provide eggs to guests when available. Please let us know if you'd like a dozen fresh eggs and we will drop them off. If you'd like to visit with our chickens, please let us know, we'd be happy to introduce you and let you interact with the chickens if you're interested in that experience.

We are located on Silver Mountain Road (Forest Service Road 2270) with access to the snowmobile trail system (trail #12 and trail #109). Please view property pictures for the snowmobile map and our location on the trail system.

Guests are free to interact with us as little or as much as they like. One of us is on the property most of the time. If you need assistance, please feel free to knock on our door for assistance or message us. Feel free to join us by the central fire pit in the evenings, or in our gardens (seasonally/weather permitting). If you'd like a garden tour, or are interested in a group bonfire (with desserts) please let us know, we love meeting guests and hosting.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned cabin, which features a fireplace. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Take in the views from a garden.
Guests will find features like onsite parking.

Great area to see the stars and northern lights . Very quiet area not far from hiking and fishing . The area is surrounded with state land and very close to the Sturgeon river to provide kayaking and canoeing . The cabin provided a great base camp for our bear hunt.

Silver Mt. Cabin vacation
We always try to stay somewhere that is economical, quiet and safe in terms of the neighborhood. This location provided all three and we were welcomed with our exuberant labs. Slept with the windows open and enjoyed fresh eggs from Mike's flock. What.more could you expect? We'll be back.

Quiet Cabin in the Woods
My husband and I (and our two dogs) stayed here while visiting family and exploring the Keweenaw peninsula. It was perfect for us. And the owners left us a carton of fresh eggs which we appreciated immensely. The area was quiet and peaceful. Just as we hoped.

Hiking trip
My brother, his wife and I stayed here in September along with their doggos. The cabin was just as it is in the pictures listed. We had everything we needed to make the few meals we ate at there. Great eggs for breakfast! The owners are great with communication, and when we got there, Mike shared a few suggestions for places to checkout that were in the area. We took him up on those suggestions and enjoyed a few hikes nearby and one easily accessible beautiful view. This is an AMAZING property! We would absolutely stay here again.

Nice setting but dirty
The cabin is in a nice setting, but was not clean. We seriously had to wash all the dishes, silverware (clean out drawers), stove, refrigerator, floors, under beds, not because we're just fussy. It was bad. Linens on beds were clean. Owner was very friendly and kind.

We loved our stay here. Our younger ones are already planning a return trip! Location is in middle of the woods, is quiet, and, gorgeous. Close to hiking trails and towns. We made the drive up to Houghton, to see Lake Superior and is a pretty drive.

Nice Experience
We stayed here for two nights. The place is definitely off the beaten path and we liked it. Just be aware that the unpaved road is a little rough this time of year. We met the owner Mike not long after checking in and he was a really nice guy. I might try to come back during deer hunting (bow) season.
