We stayed here last year and it was a great stay, but this year after all of the remodeling it was absolutely fantastic! Such a great place for a great price. Pool was clean. Rooms were spacious and clean. Will definitely stay again.

This has always been our go-to hotel when we stay in Ottumwa. It’s usually clean and well maintained with a decent breakfast selection This trip was a little bit different. We were given a handicapped accessible room which was a surprise and that would have been ok but the shower grout had mold/mildew in the lower half. Also the toilet had some kind of wooden lid on it that was covered in black mold on the bottom side. We opened it because the mold in the shower couldn’t account for the strong smell after a couple of days. Also, the card lock entry side entrance, which was the closest to our room, only worked the first day or so. They said it was just “resetting” itself and it should work but it never did again. We didn’t get our towels replaced even when we didn’t have the “do not disturb” on the door. Good thing we weren’t there long enough to take a lot of showers! I think this property it not being maintained as well as it was for the last 20 years or so. Sad to see.

We had a medical emergency in Ottumwa and had to make our plans on the go. Used expedia to make 2 night reservations. Halfway to Ottumwa we got a call that our sister needed to be airlifted to Iowa City UI hospital for emergency surgery. Called h Americinn direct and explained our change of hospitals and was told by night desk person that his boss would take care of the cancelation. Now one week later with the charges now on my credit card when I call the hotel they deny ever getting a call and tell me I would've needed to call Expedia to cancel. Don't ever plan on staying here again. Don't like being lied to.

Very clean and refurbished. Television didn't sync up with their provider service (older TVs) and had to have help from desk to get it to work - told to "not use the TV guide." So, that did work. Seems there is a fee to use the pool. The provided breakfast could be better. The biscuits and gravy.....not too great. Good toast, coffee....did not try the make-your-own waffle. Juices were watered down or concentrate ran out. Staff was really great. Overall a good stay.
