Nice newer (or newly renovated) place with comfortable beds, a nice breakfast with plenty of choice and friendly attentive staff. It is situated downtown within easy walking distance of Byward market, Rideau shopping centre, and the parliament buildings.
The pool was very small, but looked much larger in photos on the hotel website. However, it was nice and warm, with plenty of towels poolside. The fitness room was large and had a good variety of equipment.
The biggest downside was the area around the hotel. We did not feel safe walking in the neighborhood, especially at night. Homeless people, tents, tons of garbage in the streets—Murray street was the worst—avoid if you can.
I would not stay at this hotel if I was travelling alone.
Parking is not included with your stay. Very limited parking is available at $18 per night, and if you arrive after noontime, you will have to park at one of two off-site public lots located a few blocks away (you must walk through a sketchy area to get there—-avoid doing this after dark if you can).
If I do this in future, I will choose a hotel a little further away from downtown, where parking is included and on-site, and drive in to downtown to shop (I would park at the Rideau Centre).
