Quiet area after day of exploring Osaka

Great hotel close to Osaka Castle and walking distance to train station. Need couple train swaps to go to where action is near Dotonbori canal

Hotel room is comfortable although the bathroom can use some updating, especially with tap being difficult to shut off entirely. Front desk staff and concierge are very helpful. Enjoyed dining at the Jojoen restaurant at the hotel. The one big negative of this hotel is not being able to take the airport limousine bus to Kansai airport as there are only 2 scheduled times leaving the hotel to the airport. We had to take a taxi to the Sheraton hotel in order to take the limousine bus as they have many scheduled departures throughout the day. This is a major draw back and we will consider staying at the Sheraton next time we are in Osaka.

New Otani Osaka is a special place to stay with old world charm. It may be outdated in decor but the service throughout the hotel is outstanding. Ms Oshida in Guest Relations helped us greatly in figuring out our transportation dilemma to Kansai Airport. They also had Staff escort us to the airport bus next to the hotel and made sure our luggage was loaded into the bus. Throughout our entire stay, New Otani made sure we were taken care of and happy. Also we were surprised we were upgraded to a castle view room upon checkin. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of western and Asian food varieties. They had an omelet chef too. We enjoyed their breakfast for 3 days. You can walk to Osaka Castle. There are also stores and restaurants close by. The train is also not far from the hotel. I would stay here again

This property should not be rated five stars. Nearly every amenity comes with an extra charge, and the beds, pillows, and couches were extremely uncomfortable — it honestly felt like we were sleeping on wooden pallets. If you want to overpay for a hotel that offers no real amenities without additional fees and provides terrible sleep quality, this is the place for you. The one positive is the location.

The location is really convenient for visiting Osaka castle, and there are many places to nearby. The staffs were very kind and supportive. However, I can very much feel that the hotel needs a remodeling. Everything in my room looked very old, and the room smelled like a cheap old motel. My wife and kids hated the smell and didn't like the experience of this hotel. There is no fan in the restroom, so when you take a shower, you may feel stuffy.

While a little bit removed from the city ,it location beside Osaka castle and it close proximity to a number of metro and rail lines makes up for it .Staff were more than helpful and extremley polite
