If it wasn't for the location I'd have given it a poor rating, our room key never worked from the first time we tried it, we had to get a staff person to open door for us everytime we came back from our outings, we were told someone would look at it but no one ever did, and the AC unit did not work, no cold air but like I said location was good

Pros: Nice staff, lovely location, decent pool and beach, good distance to get into SF proper, perfect spot for shopping and relaxing. Cons: Bad internet, broken appliances, issues with wasps, very VERY dirty carpets (wear sandals around and not just socks), lack of decent plug outlets that work. Location needs some work when it comes to appearances.

The room smelled very musty and in some areas smelled of urine or something similarly foul. The internet did not work. The wifi given was not available as written and the password did not work with the wifi names that were similar. The chair and sofa in the living area were uncomfortable to sit in. I did enjoy the view from the patio and the amount of space were nice. The tv was easy to sign into my accounts so I could conveniently watch my streaming services.

I come here on small vacations when I need to get out the house I chose the lagoon side on the weekdays here are chill relaxing weekends rougher crowd sometimes it’s not clean old furniture but I enjoy the size of room and quiet

Would not stay here again even if free.

Driving up it looked a little outdated but fine. Checking in was great and friendly. Walking up the stairs to second floor to my room was gross. Stairs were nasty dirty and stinky. Got to room and the light wouldn’t turn on. Kept flickering so we just kept it off. Not a big deal since the other lights worked. But inside the room the carpet was just as gross. Visibly dirt spots and squeaky floor underneath. The curtain in front of the sliding door was also disgustingly dirty. The beds were awful to sleep on. You could feel the springs. The walls were dirty next to the bathroom door handle. The remote had nasty gunk in between the buttons. The only plus was that the sheets smelled clean and so did the towels in the bathroom. Do your self a favor and look somewhere else to stay.

The stairs from the lobby to the 2nd floor looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. The carpet was threadbare. When we opened the door to our room it immediately smelled terrible. The room was so questionable that we went across the street to Home Goods to buy sheets and a candle. We did not bother to try the provided breakfast.

The Coral Reef Inn is in a great location, just a short walk to the beach and plenty of nearby shopping and dining. Breakfast is complimentary but very limited—cereal, yogurt, toast, coffee, and juice—enough for a light start but nothing filling. The pool area definitely needs work, as the fencing is rusted and falling apart, which feels unsafe with children around. Parking, however, was plentiful and convenient. The property seems to have both short-term guests and long-term residents, as some balconies were clearly personalized and decorated. Staff was overall kind and helpful, though communication could be limited at times. The front desk stood out as knowledgeable and professional; one staff member mentioned working there for over 16 years, which gave confidence in the management. We had one minor issue with our key cards, but maintenance quickly resolved it. Our room was comfortable, though very outdated in décor, but everything worked as needed. The big plus was having a working stove and oven, which made preparing meals easy. Wi-Fi was spotty but manageable. Overall, my family enjoyed our stay, and despite its dated look, the inn offered comfort, convenience, and good value for the location. We’ll keep it in mind for future visits. For a great nearby meal, check out South Shore Café—a cozy mom-and-pop spot serving delicious breakfast and lunch, highly recommended.

Noisy families nearby, late at night. Old decor and fixtures, furniture, plumbing, lighting, etc. Booked double queen beds, but ended up with a single queen bed. “Continental breakfast” limited to coffee, toast, and chocolate treat. We had stayed here several times previously, but the property has become shabby. Desk personnel were friendly and efficient.

It is a low budget motel with 80s furniture, tube TVs. I recommend using a towel on the chairs and couches to sit on. Lots of activity at night in the parking lot as well.
