Decent food and nice bar area with excellent bar and hotel staff.
The problem was that we booked one of the executive rooms, which is in the front of the old house. Despite the fact that it was 21 degrees at the end of October, the heating was on full blast (and we are in an energy crisis) and the radiator would not switch off. The room was unbearable.
This is obviously a 'thing' at Pytchley Inn as we ate in the bar, which is much more characterful than the dining room, as a table by the wall unexpectedly became available. The reason is was suddenly available....the radiator next to the table was on full blast!
For the room, the staff very apologetic and understanding and moved us to the neighbouring exec room where the radiator could be turned off. It was better, but the overall heat in the building and the fact that the bed had a warming topper led to a very uncomfortable and still overly warm night.
Additionally, the replacement exec only had a large queen/ small king sized bed, whereas our previous room had a full king.
Whilst there was a single bed, the base was rock solid and it was like sleeping on a board.
The hotel staff were very understanding and did correct the rate.
As we left, we could see into the newer rooms, which seemed to be standard rooms and, by far, looked to be much more welcoming.
