TLDR: Yes, they're under heavy construction which is not advertised anywhere and inconvenient. However, I would try them one more time post-construction to see what I think. Staff was excellent!
Pros:
- Staff was kind and helpful
- Room was clean and modern, the shower had great water pressure
- As an added amenity due to construction, they were offering a happy hour and complimentary breakfast
Cons:
- The elevator constantly smelled like weed
- There were men always blocking the one entry door, smoking and cursing and the only other door that looked available had another man sitting in front if it with plastic bags; unsure if he was homeless or just loitering for over an hour - traveling as a single female this was off-putting and did not make me feel safe; in addition to the doors being propped open so anyone could walk in at any time did not add to the feeling of safety
- I'm not sure who they consulted to contruct things, but the rooms seem to be designed with tall people/giants in mind. I'm 5'3" and the peephole in the door was not something I could see through, even standing on my tiptoes. Additionally, the magnified mirror in the bathroom was installed so high (at least 6" taller than me) on the wall, so that it was useless.
- The deadbolt to my room would not engage unless I put all my weight up against the door and turned it as hard as I could. Between this and the peephole issue, and the lack of outdoor security, I did consider leaving and going elsewhere.
