great staff - thanks all
very busy village and i cant work out why as there is nothing of note here other than being right in Dartmoor
Great food and surprising as its a brewery hotel ( i think i'm correct in saying this)
Will stay there in future but will approach through the "main" road next time rather than the single track lanes !
Lovely pub/hotel in very remote location. Didn’t realise you had to book parking onsite and ended up parking on car park up the road with no issues. Room was lovely and slept very well. Staff very welcoming on arrival and food on the evening was fantastic.
Only let down was the service in the morning at breakfast. No dairy alternatives available on buffet, you had to ask for them. Service was very poor, waited 15 minutes (there was only 3 of us in the breakfast room) before being asked if I wanted to order. Gossiping with work colleagues seemed more of a priority. When I finally got breakfast, it was the best porridge I had ever tasted!!!
We only stayed for one night but will definitely be back. Great pub with excellent atmosphere, service and food.
We stayed in a dog friendly room which had a disabled bathroom, this needs updating. Would be nice touch to put dog bowl, treats etc if you know a dog is coming.
Good service, good beer & wine, good food and great fire. Only down side was that our room (room 9) was right above the kitchen - noisy music, noisy extractor fans and constant noise of doors banging☹️.
Wonderful old in with lots of character and charm. Staff were all welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. Excellent stay in a historic town!
Our room was very clean. The bed was comfortable.Every thing was in excellent condition. The staff were friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was excellent however it is strange to be charged extra for hot chocolate. However the noise from the extractor fan woke us around 6am. 😞
Professional helpful Staff with clean room and will certainly stay there again if needs be.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Room comfort
Pleasant over but noisy at times
Plus
Friendly staff overall
Pleasant conservatory
Excellent bath
Very tasty breakfast
Excellent sea food platter
Reasonably priced bar drinks
Negative
Poor flow on shower
Noisy at night as next to two other pubs - late night revellers and cars/motor bikes and early morning deliveries and bin men.
Room 13 had searchlight from property directly opposite shining into room.
Not well ventilated without having windows/curtains open exacerbating problems above.
Scott would make an excellent nightclub bouncer but his welcoming skills need working on for a restaurant!!!
Recommendation
Get a room at the back of the hotel away from street noise etc
