We booked our room a couple of days before we arrived. We drove from North Carolina to Virginia and were told that we had a check in at 3 PM upon arriving at 3:50 PM. We were told that our room would be ready in 10min. That definitely wasn’t the case as we didn’t get into our room until almost 5 o’clock. Obviously, with having an exhausted toddler and pre-scheduled Reservations this definitely created a problem. It seems as if the hotel overextended themselves as there clearly wasn’t enough rooms since they were scrambling, trying to find one. That being said our money was taken on Thursday night so you knew well in advance we were coming. If you didn’t have space we could’ve gone to someplace else that was able to accommodate. Despite the the wait, not once were offered a way to rectify this issue. We were not given a discount. We were not given a better room. No attempt to resolve the issue from staff. Our time was completely disregarded. If the rooms weren’t ready they could’ve notified us well in advance to make other arrangements or provide an ETA when to check in. However, we checked in an hour after scheduled check in and we still had to wait for a room. If the hotel overcommitted itself, it’s not our fault. We could’ve been refunded and went to another establishment. Of course, we were late to our event. In regards to the room, it was fine however, the continental breakfast was subpar at best. We ended up going to Dunkin’ Donuts. Should’ve used our Hilton points.
