Beautiful hotel on the beach in Newport. Very convenient to restaurants and shopping. Checkin was quick and easy, and the staff was very friendly. All the rooms have a balcony that looks out at the beach, with stunning sunsets each night. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a very nice stay even with all of the construction. The staff was very friendly, helpful and polite. The room was very clean and had a great view. We will be coming back again soon.

Great stay, not so great interaction at check-in
Our second stay at this location. We like the room, and the location of the hotel. One minor hiccup was at check in, the front desk person did not greet or acknowledge me, I stood there for 15 mins while she was typing away. Came to find out that she assumed that I was with the other party, and did not bother to ask and confirm her assumption. Once that terrible interaction completed, we got our room and was able to enjoy the place.

Amazing views and amazing room!!!
This location was amazing, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great once the hot water was working. We didn't have hot water the first night, but the Whaler was very accommodating and rectified the situation by going above and beyond for us. Loved this place.

Out of five different hotels on my last trip this was my favorite. The design was awesome. The views were fantastic. We were also greeted with free snacks and binoculars to look for whales. I downgraded my rating slightly due to the construction as it was a little noisy from early to late but it wasn’t a huge bother. The beach across the street had some cool tide pools with jellyfish and sea anemones. For more amazing tide pools complete with informative park rangers, drive just 7 mins away to the outstanding wildlife area by the lighthouse. I wasn’t here long enough to judge walkability but we loved Georgie’s which was only a 10 min walk or 2 min drive away. Amazing sunset views!
