Top-tier, Picturesque Destination

The Newport Harbor Island Resort was a stunning property located right on Newport Harbor, with picturesque views everywhere you looked. I could not be happier with the cleanliness of the hotel, the friendly and pleasant staff, and the on-site accommodations that include a bar, multiple restaurants, fitness center and pool/ spa area.

Being a 50 year traveler I have very little bad to say about this resort. It is quite large with many private sitting and sunning areas. It never feels crowded. Besides their own restaurants there are many within walking distance. There also is a shuttle and a water taxi to take you to the heart to the restaurants.

The resort itself is nice. However I rated this 2 stars (poor) due to amoral billing practices. You will have to pay a fee to park at the resort. You will have to pay a “resort fees” You will have to pay taxes on the fees resulting in about 110$ more per night than expected just to breathe there. While the in room items are properly marked these fees caught me off guard and were predatory/unavoidable. These dishonest billing practices should never be validated with high ratings. I will not recommend this location to people asking me about it.
