Very Good

We stayed at the Overlook part of the property. We had a 1-night stay so did not get to take advantage of many amenities on the property. Very nice, large room. The in-room refrigerator was a welcome surprise. The Bathroom was stocked with a shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispenser. The beds were doubles, so a little tight for the three of us, but nice. Extra blankets in the closet were appreciated. The window in the room opened, which was nice in the morning. The shower steamed up the room a bit so there is not enough exhaust in the bathroom. The check-in process is a little confusing in that you drive to the main lodge then go back up to your building, but the separate buildings help with keeping noise down. Nice access for the trails, which are pretty technical but there are some nice paved walking paths on the property. The Hikers Cafe was great at breakfast for our group. Get there early for a shorter wait if you are getting a hot meal since it is cooked to order.
This is a beautiful location in a state park that we would not have found without Expedia. The lodge dates from the early 1900’s. It’s located on a lake and has a great restaurant in the main lodge.
Wonderful experience.
Stayed at the Overlook. Which is a nice little walk from the inn. They now have a shuttle service to and from, which we really appreciated. The staff were amazing! The swimming pool was clean and so great! And the peddle boat was a wonderful thing to experience during our stay!! Overall stay was so nice and relaxing. We didnt want to go!! But will be back!
Very old, small rooms, small bathrooms— needs significant updates. BUGS, they need pest control. You cannot control the air in your room at all, so hot/cold, just suffer. Power goes out— you can’t get in your room. Want to shower at 2am— no hot water and I don’t mean it came out cold— it did not come out at all. Fridge did not get cold at all. DON’T be fooled by the pictures they post: the pool, paddle boats, fishing, etc— that’s all state park and CLOSED even though the hotel will tell you they (meaning the hotel) is open— the state park is not. Spent a ton to make this trip of a lifetime and this place blew it! I had to remove the photos Hotels to post this.
Action after a power outage was slow -- there was no power for several hours on the morning we left, so no wifi and (especially) no coffee. Once the power went back on in the mid-morning, it would have been nice to have coffee but there was none. Otherwise, great place.
Very bad experience because the general control of the air conditioning is done through one unit for 6 rooms. Some people want the room to be very cold, others want it hot, and others want it medium. This is the biggest problem in my opinion.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Finding the lobby at night is like a haunted trail. Get some lights and signs. Felt like we took a wrong turn and were on a bike trail. Overlook lodge has a very musty/Smokey smell when you enter. Thankfully, the room smell wasn’t bad or I would’ve left. Willing to give it another go in the future.
The view was amazing. The Bear Mt.
On one bad note, the electricity went out for several hours during the night. No response or any communication from the management. We left directly from the cottage.
