Staff were very friendly, the bathroom was clean and linen was clean but the room was dark and not enough lighting. I requested an additional lamp twice to brighten up the room but it was never delivered. Furniture was old, dirty and falling apart. The only reason we didn't leave after seeing the room was the location which is excellent and within a short walk to a couple of key NYC attractions and a variety of restaurants.

Well, I was a bit surprised by what appeared to be a sloppy remodel: peeling wall paper, ceiling paint on ceiling fixtures, untidy caulking on bathroom walls and tiles, exposed screw anchors in bathroom. All these could be addressed so easily in a couple of hours. Despite a wonderful staff and beautiful common areas (though dank basement gym smelled like mildew) it shows a certain lack of attention to detail.

Lobby was very impressive but room was in need of some attention to details that do not deserve a 4star hotel rating. Peeling paint in bathroom and around door. Buckled wallpaper in bedroom. Room temperature control involved putting your hand down into panel with hot pipes.
