I recently stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Nassau, Bahamas, and I can confidently say it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. For a brand that prides itself on consistency, comfort, and quality, this location completely missed the mark from the moment I walked into my room. The room was *nowhere near Marriott standards*. Immediately upon entering, I was hit with a **strong, foul stench** that lingered throughout my entire stay. No amount of air freshener, ventilation, or time made it better. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and downright unacceptable. I could not relax, I could not enjoy my stay, and I certainly could not invite any guests over because the odor was overwhelming and unpleasant. A hotel room should be a place of rest—not a space you’re trying to escape from. Beyond the smell, the overall quality of the room felt neglected and poorly maintained. It was clear that cleanliness and basic upkeep were not priorities here. For the rate I paid, I expected a clean, fresh, and welcoming environment. Instead, I received a room that felt old, unkept, and unworthy of the Marriott name. What makes this even worse is that this was not a minor inconvenience—it affected my entire trip. When you travel, you trust a reputable brand to deliver a certain level of comfort. This location failed on every front. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Overall , I enjoyed my stay. The property is under construction so the smell of the hallway and room bothered my mother. I called front desk and the room was changed promptly. Claude, the concierge was excellent, guided us well and was extremely helpful throughout our stay. I would stay again.

Staff treated us as invaders. Very short and didn’t want us there. Didn’t even try to fake it. Security was the only kind encounter and one male cleaner. Most hotels give at least breakfast included. Nothing included and price was over the top. Two pieces of toast with four pieces of sausage was $28…regular breakfast for two $85. The store charges $4 for a can of soda and $2.50 for $50 bag of chips. Taxi ride for one mile is $55 and tip is expected. The are itself is a bad location and separated from shops and places to eat. We had to walk in very dangerous traffic for 20 minutes to get to the first shop. Only thing close for food, that wasn’t in the industrial area, was McDonald’s, which we don’t eat here in the states. You can’t enjoy your trip without constant hounding from locals selling everything from $40 drinks to $30 beach chairs for rent. Non stop harassment. It was overwhelming. And if you don’t buy they get aggressive and angry. Plus we lost two days due to three hour flight delay that rerouted us from Atlanta to NEW YORK overnight. Then Expedia rebooked our stay, after they failed to do so until I called them, and booked it for a day short. So we lost two days. I will highly recommend staying out of Junkanoo, emphasize junk, beach. Paradise island is for tourists, this area for locals. Night and day different treatment on other side. Still has aggressive vendors, which are just locals without regulation. Very disappointed in hotel and location.

I noticed the 2 times that I've stayed at this hotel, in which, I opted for the poolside rooms which are on ground level, the bathrooms have poor plumbing, as both times, it smelled of sewage. The staff at this hotel however, are AMAZING!
