Lakeshore bliss
The sunset views were perfect! The private beach was just that save for a handful of other dog walkers throughout the entire week. Our 2 1/2 year old lab spent many hours chasing sticks in the water and sniffing out secrets of the beach. My husband explored nearby fishing spots and caught a few perch! Just a note - be sure to bring any pantry staples (spices, sugar, salt, flour,...) as there were no "leftovers" from previous visitors. It was a wonderful respite from the crazy times we are living in.

Fall Getaway
We really enjoyed the location and the various wildlife found in the area. There are a few items that need fixed; such as broken sliding door lock and sliding screen door. Otherwise we loved the quiet surroundings and view of Lake Michigan.

Beautiful and relaxing
Spent as much time on the deck and beach as possible. Outdoor shower was a great bonus to wash the sand off our dog.

Great Beach House
This was a sisters vacation. We loved seeing and hearing the lake from the house. Some evenings, there were beautiful sunsets. It’s in a secluded location but close to other public beaches, restaurants and shopping. Lots of deer live in the area along with wild turkeys. The lack of AC wasn’t an issue for us. The outside temps were comfortable. The one day it was a bit hot, we closed the blinds on patio door and windows by dining room while we were gone. It made a big difference. The rocking chairs on the deck were great! Perfect spot for coffee or a glass of wine. Beds were very comfortable. The two bathrooms in the house were clean. The third bathroom is only an outdoor shower. The ice maker didn’t work and neither fridge had ice trays. I asked the owner about this and the next day she dropped off some ice trays and a great gift bag filled with lots of goodies. There was an odor that smelled like insecticide or bug spray. Cleaners may have sprayed something before leaving. Please note there’s a loose board on the walkway to the beach stairs. If you’re an older person (which we are) the stairs from basement up to main floor and stairs down to the beach are a little challenging.

Nice place
Just a few suggestions. When we got there the floors in the bedrooms were still dirty(sand which we understood but there was just a lot and dog fur on both carpet in living room and bedrooms). We went to use the grill and had to clean and fix to use but it was wonderful to have and have a backup of gas to it. There was some loose boards on the walk way to the lake which were a tripping hazard with the grass over it so hard to see them. The tall drinking glasses were cracked and leaked. Maybe a few more cereal size bowls. There were enough bath towels but only two hand towels maybe a few more of those. The window in the eating area had to be opened with pliers that were left there we figured to use to open the window. A lot of the electrical outlets in the main living area on the outside wall didn’t work. Not the main bedroom but the other two would be nice to have window coverings on instead of no coverings. But with that said what a beautiful view, the deck was excellent with a big table, fire pit and chairs. The beach was great. Being so close to everything but being in the woods like your in a private place. We definitely would stay again. Hoping that the suggestion would be looked at.

Great Location on the Lake
The location is 10/10. The deck and stairs to the beach make this a perfect place to get to the lake, watch the sunset and enjoy Lake MI. The outdoor shower is a great feature. The kitchen is nice. 2 fridges is helpful as well. The only "con" has been mentioned by others: No AC with very few windows that opened and/or had screens. We knew this before booking and brought fans with us. But the home is older and many windows don't open or have screens. That made it difficult to circulate cooler air and take advantage of the breezes off the lake.

Secluded family get away
Stayed at the properly in June 2024. Lots of good points about this spot. It has direct access to a rather private beach. The house is clean and quiet with a well equipped kitchen. The porch out back has a fire pit and big gas grill. The basement has a washer and driver and a second full size fridge. Note it is more than 2 stories of stairs to the beach. Beach has plenty of space to relax and play with very few people around and great sand. The house has no AC which most days would be no issue with the lake breeze but our stay included an unseasonable warm heat wave. The days were a bit rough but the nights cooled off and we could keep the doors open and listen to the waves on the beach below. We had minor maintenance issues with a sink and one window was missing a screen on the very hot days. The polite owners addressed both very quickly. The internet service is blazing fast too. Several great restaurants nearby. Try Cherokee for breakfast and Dockers for dinner.

Lake Michigan Getaway
The property was great, even better than the pictures. We enjoyed our stay and the local restaurants and breweries. Our dog loved the beach and swam every day. We would definitely stay here again when we come back to Muskegon.

Enjoyable quiet location
We enjoyed our stay at the house, it was very clean and in good condition. The only disappointing thing was that the listing said the master bedroom had a king bed. One of the earlier reviews said it didn't. So I called to verify and was told it did indeed have a king size bed. Well it didn't, it only had a queen size bed. Other than that, it's a great home with a great location/view of the lake. It's also close to lots of places to eat, shop, and just visit. We would stay here again if we are ever in this area.

August Review 2023
Pros: - private beach -decent price, looks like this will increase next year though. -House had almost everything we needed in terms of grill, utensils, plates etc. Cons: - listing was inaccurate, master bedroom had a full size bed and not a king - NO AIR CONDITIONING, this should have been the first thing in the description. There was fans, but it was very difficult to sleep and be inside when it was so hot. - Broken furniture that wasn’t addressed, luckily we found additional seats in the garage. - We had to reach out to get the door code, wifi, etc. would have been nice to have all that before we arrived. - Outdoor shower didn’t work for us, there was no pressure. In short, it was a fun place and we enjoyed our vacation. Just wasn’t what we originally thought based off tue description.

We had a wonderful time at Idlewild! The house was very clean, plenty of room for our group of eight, but the main attraction was the private beach! The views and location were unbeatable.

Ahhhh, Summer on Lake Michigan!
We loved the beautiful view of Lake Michigan, and to be able to walk to the private beach - amazing! The house is well appointed - we cooked most nights and had everything we needed, including use of the gas grill. Lots of towels were provided - very appreciated! Beds were comfortable - we all slept well. I was surprised that such a modern house didn't have a/c, but plenty of fans were provided, and after the storm came through the first night we were there (which was so cool to see come in over the lake) it was cool enough that we didn't really miss the a/c. Lots of fun stuff to do nearby, too. Thanks for a delightful vacation!

Very Relaxing Getaway
From the moment we drove up to the house, it was like we were the only people around. The house was beautiful. My compliments to the interior designer. Having a private beach was absolutely the best. We hated to leave but looking forward to booking this house again.

The location is amazing and access to the private beach is worth everything. Being able to sit down with a cup of coffee and enjoy Lake Michigan was great. We did have a couple of issues during our stay with broken furniture and cleaning. The owners were responsive and accommodating.

Relaxing Stay
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful lakefront home in Norton Shores! The space was very clean and comfortable. The views of Lake Michigan are amazing. Our family slept really well and had easy access to the beach, surrounding parks and enjoyed the nightly sunset views. The kitchen was well appointed - we cook at every meal - they didn't have a chef's knife/knife set or a pizza cutter. Almost everything about the property description was accurate - except: there is a queen size in the master bedroom not a king size bed. We were disappointed because we were anticipating a king size bed. Also, there is not a third bathroom - there are only 2 full bathrooms. These are arguably major items to misrepresent if the guests are expecting a larger bed and a 3rd bathroom. One last thing to mention is that we enjoyed the small neighborhood setting surrounding this home - only about a dozen homes on the street and it was very private, quiet and safe.
