We really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms seem updated and clean, and had great views (the front rooms have a better view of the mountains of course). Also the on site restaurant was perfect for dinner.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
My room had a stunning view of the mountains. You should ask for a room that faces the mountains. The room was modern and very nice.
The motel staff was great ! They definitely need to think of a shuttle to go to and from motel to Hermitage specifically for senior travellers. Hermitage average service inspire of making a reservation for dinner they messed it up. Had a similar experience for the experience booked but Sophie was great there and sorted out the issue quickly.
Our valley view room has the best sunset view of Mt Cook. Very modern and clean room. Comfortable beds. Easy access to all the attractions in the park. Had breakfast buffet every day, well worth the money!
Motel room with a gorgeous view. Comfy bed, decent shower. Noise from others was not an issue for us. For breakfast and lunch options you have to go to the Heritage, which is a 10-minute walk.
Very comfortable rooms with modern fittings, perfect for 1-2 nights. Staff were friendly and the building feels quite new. Downsides were that breakfast is not on site despite there being a restaurant upstairs (which was good for casual dinner), the shower is too low for tall people to stand underneath, no lamps / dimmable lights in the room, and had an issue where there were no parking spots left so had to use a disabled bay. Would still recommend to stay here.
Very nice and convenient in the park. Wish we had a front room with a view of Mt Cook, but room was still nice and had a balcony with a ridgeline view.
I wanted to give a warning to anyone who might stay in the area. If you plan on eating dinner here I would try and pack something or stop in another city before getting to mount cook. I tried to eat at the sister restaurant which had 2 people in the entire room and they told me the soonest they could sit me was 2+ hours later, so I ate at the restaurant at mount cook and it was terrible but there are no other options. I was told there was breakfast at the other place as well but for the price I just drove away the next morning and found something an hour away.
In addition, the parking situation doesn't seem to have enough spaces for cars that will be parking at the lodge. I watched multiple cars circle 3-4 times until someone left. The way the parking lot is shaped is also odd because it appears you can circle the lot but you end up in the back of the hotel where you have to maneuver in order to back up.
There isn't an elevator either so I had to drag my suitcase upstairs. If you're of limited mobility there isn't an option for how to get to the second floor aside from the steps. Which is odd considering their lot has 4 handicap spaces.
Overall, this stay was fine for one night in which I hiked in the area. I intended to do a tour but unfortunately that was cancelled due to weather. I think in the future I would stay in a neighboring city instead.
Mt Cook Lodge was surprisingly pleasant. I wasn't expecting much but the room was well fitted and quiet, and the bathroom was spacious and had heated floors which would be very good in winter. The cafe was a bit pricey but the food was very good. The walks were great fun and the views amazing but unfortunately the glaciers are receding rapidly and icebergs in the lakes are very small. I suggest you stay here a night or two and see them as soon as possible before they're gone forever.
The location in the park is great. The room was small, uninteresting and had a boring view. Staff said they could not change us to a room with a better view, even if we paid more, since we had booked through a third party. There were no options for grab and go coffee; you had to sign up for their expensive breakfast buffet. We ate dinner in the bar. The beet root salad was great, and the pork loin dinner was not.
The front desk staff was wonderful. When we arrived, we were assisted with our luggage, as this property does not have an elevator. We received advise and assistance on several other occasions and always felt like honored guests to this beautiful area.
Hotel with a great view, confortable and clean. The issue was with the service. We asked for a mountain view room and we were told they were not available however the hotel was half empty. We Had problems with our television and we were told that they will call us back with an answer, never did. The next day we go back to our room to find someone from maintenance in our room it would’ve been nice to be inform of the situation beforehand. They, again told us that they will be back to check on the problem, two hours passed and nothing. We called the reception and on the third try got an answer and told us there was nothing they could do. Just disappointing in the communication of the place. The food of the restaurant is nothing amazing. The location is nice because it’s beside mount cook so very close after a hiking day, but don’t expect an amazing stay.
