The Hideaway at Bonnells is a unique, laid-back-lux, absolute waterfront, premium property that you simply won't find anywhere else in Lake Macquarie.

Mere footsteps from the water's edge, this sublime waterfront property is bordered on one side by a lush, tranquil and sweeping waterfront reserve.

Surrounded by lush gardens, the property comes alive at night, with pretty solar lights sprinkled throughout, and is the perfect oasis to kick off your shoes and let any of life's worries float away.

The Hideaway enjoys an expansive outdoor area, with large outdoor lounges and a stunning water view to impress. Solar fairy lighting woven throughout your nation canopy, that can be turned on or off as desired, will add to the breathtaking ambiance.

You will enjoy direct access to the water, via our private jetty or our (shared) boat ramp.

The Hideaway, is nestled underneath the main Cottage on the property (occupied by the owner) and has one queen bedroom (comfortably sleeping 2 people), one bathroom, a full kitchen, and laundry facilities (washer/dryer combo).

The Hideaway offers breathtaking water-views from both the separate bedroom and the combined living/dining room.

You will enjoy a Samsung Washer/Dryer combo, as well as a Microwave, Fridge Freezer, integrated Dishwasher, Oven and Induction cook top.

To make sure you have everything you need at your fingertips the Hidewaway also includes a De'Longhi Latisima One Coffee Maker, toaster, kettle, hairdryer, Dyson Animal Stick, ironing facilities, and 3 handy USB charging points.

A welcome pack with hand-selected treats will await your arrival.

Given that this property is one of the original properties on the Bonnells Peninsula, the property has a few quirks, one of which is the bathroom, located up two steps from the Hideaway living area. Original to the cottage, it has a head clearance height of 205cm at its highest point, and 195cm in the shower itself. Please note this when booking as it may not be the right apartment for guests over 6 feet tall.

Please also note that this property does not contain a bathtub or a TV.

All linens and towels (except beach towels) are provided, as well as kitchen accouterments including crockery, cutlery, glasses, utensils, saucepans etc.

The property is air conditioned throughout and boasts broadband internet from corner to corner.

You will find a yoga kits in your apartment, and plenty of firewood and throws for nights around the fire pit.

Off-street parking is available. A Tesla/EV Charging station is also available on-sites.

The Hideaway shares the site with the cottage located above it (which is also offered as a holiday let), as well as another separate space which is also offered as a holiday let nestled right on the waters edge - known as The Boathouse at Bonnells. Should you wish to share an escape together with friends or family, yet still enjoy your own private space, you may wish to book The Boathouse and The Hideaway together.

The Hideaway has been cleverly and intentionally designed with your privacy in mind. It has it's own discrete and private entrance, via the stepping stone pathway that leads down towards the waterfront.

The property offers a separate outdoor entertainment area, BBQ, Fire Pit with seating, outdoor hot & cold shower, private jetty and boat ramp (shared with our neighbours). Please note that these spaces may, at times, be shared with guests who are staying at The Boathouse, depending upon bookings.

The property owner will do their utmost to ensure your privacy, whilst you are on-site.

This is a strictly NO-Smoking property.

No pets are permitted in order to protect the Black Swans and Pelicans, and other beautiful wildlife around the lake.

As a note to those with mobility restrictions, this property is accessed via a downhill stepping stone path. There are three stairs inside to access the bathroom from the lounge/dining room.

Please also note that this property does not contain a bathtub.

Lake Access

Beautiful Lake Macquarie is the largest saltwater lake in Australia. The Hideway at Bonnells is blessed with easy, private access to gorgeous and tranquil Bonnells Bay.

Please note that you cannot dive from the jetty, for safety reasons, due to the shallow waters around us.

Should you like to bring your own boat, it is important to note that the jetty is only suitable for smaller water vessels to pull up alongside (such as bowriders, which have a smaller draft), as this part of Bonnells Bay is prone to sand drifts and is quite shallow. Please check the depth of the water first before trying to bring any vessels into the jetty. Be mindful that guests in the Boathouse may also be using these facilities with watercraft.

Please note that trailered watercraft can be launched into the water at the public Boat Ramp just down the street.

Linen: All beds are made ready for your stay, prior to arrival with quality linen, including bath towels.

The guest will nominate the number and identity of guests (including providing each adult guest’s full name and mobile phone number) that will occupy the property and will not allow any other person to enter the property. Additional guests at the property will incur additional charges.

Please note that this is a Holiday Accommodation that is not serviced. You will be provided with limited supplies for your first night's stay and we recommend organizing a shopping trip to pick up items like toilet tissue, shampoo, washing detergent, cooking oil, coffee, condiments, etc. for the duration of your stay.
