Amazing location in downtown Monterey!
Loved the old charm but some things seemed run down like stains on the carpets everywhere. The location however was great! Downtown Monterey has lots of restaurants and breweries to walk to and very close proximity to the wharf, walking/bike trail on the water. We chose to walk the 1.5 miles to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on a beautiful sunny day with lots of wildlife to see along the way.

The staff and location of this hotel were great. Alot of restaurants and bars. Also walking distance to the wharf. I didn't like my room. The room was small and put a big cabinet at the end of the bed that has the tv in it. The doors wouldn't open all the way and got stuck on the bed. If we were watching tv, I had to close the cabinet doors to walk by to get to anything. The bathroom was extremely small too. If you don't like noise, dont stay here. It is in the downtown area and a lot of people yelling and screaming. That didn't bother me much though. There's no air conditioning, so if you want the cool air you have to open the window. They did bring us a fan and the ceiling fan worked great. There's no refrigerator or microwave either. There's no place to keep any left over food. There's was a coffee maker but it was inside a small nightstand next to the bed. It was really hard to get to so we didn't use it. They did give us bottle water for free and ice. They don't have an ice machine that you can access yourself, but they will bring ice to your room. The carpeting was awful. It was stained badly throughout. The paint was chipped in the rooms and throughout the hotel. I know it's historic but needs quite a bit of TLC. I will not stay here again because I was so unhappy with the room.

I loved my stay! I felt very safe and comfortable being a solo traveller. The valet drivers were so respectful and helpful during my stay. The rooms were clean and cozy. I think I’m with alot of people on this one where the only thing that is missing is AC ! It gets really humid in the room even at nighttime. It was bearable but I hope something can change in the future. Overall 8/10:))) I would come back !!

Charming old hotel. Great location, very quiet. I actually parked overnight for free on the street during my stay. Big room compared to newer hotels. Great price. Close to waterfront and restaurants. I will be back.

Charming place for a quick overnight stay on a roadtrip. The building is gorgeous and the staff super helpful and friendly. Prime location with plenty of restaurants and shops all within walking distance. I do recommend using the public parking garage a block over--it's cheaper and easy access.

The only thing I will complain about was the no air conditioning. I get it’s an old property. But to have to open a window use a ceiling not bad for Monterey, however couldn’t sleep past 7:30 am because of noise from the street and alley.
