I initially submitted a request for reimbursement for my stay at the Carmel Resort Inn, as the room was in unacceptable condition and far below the standards expected in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I was also disappointed that Expedia initially denied my request, as I expected better quality assurance when booking through a third party.
The room issues were clearly documented in attached photos. The entry door has a visible gap and signs of tampering, compromising privacy and security. In the bathroom, the shower knob fell off, the shower head was loose and dripping, and there were holes in the wall. The flooring was severely uneven, making it feel like walking downhill inside the room. The vanity had two sets of fixtures, but only one worked, showing unresolved plumbing problems.
This was especially upsetting because we were visiting for the Monterey Jazz Festival and had been looking forward to the trip. Instead, the poor condition of the room made the stay both uncomfortable and stressful.
Given these issues, I respectfully requested a full reimbursement. If guest safety and satisfaction are priorities, a room in such disrepair should never be offered.
