The staff was very friendly and very helpful, even in various " OUT OF THE BOX" situations! and for that, precisely I want to give special praise to é members of the RIU OCHO RIOS, security staff, who went above, and beyond with their customer services skills, to get me out of a jam, regarding ouTSIDEie transportation arrangements. MR. CHAVES MATHISON AND MISS. JUSTINE WILLIAMS What i did not like were the outrageous transportation prices offered by several of those Taxi/ cab drivers contracting companies!

The room I had was plagued with problems, but I was never offered to move. First, the TV and the guide in the room did not match The guide had channel #s from 001 to 090 the TV had 34-101 and 89-101 no commonality. The tech said you can just use the up and down arrows on the remote.???? One evening power went off in my room only. The tech was able to bypass the faulty circuit breaker. The shower when set at a comfortable temperature would then fluctuate from comfortable to cold to scalding and repeat, I would step back when it wasn't in the comfortable area. The toilet seat was plastic and would move when I went to wipe. The WC was so small my head would hit the door when I bent to pull up my skivvies.

Local menu needs improvement. Staff was courteous and responded promptly to our requests. Overall, the property was well maintained. However, a few areas on the buildings' upper/roof sections need repairs. Refuse removal was efficient. The AC needs better maintenence; especially the filtration part. Excessive limescale on my rooms' shower glass is removable.

The beach was the best highlight for this resort along with the service and food at the Steakhouse and Kilinarium restaurant. This also includes the entertainers who created a lively and engaging atmosphere. Everything else about the property was very poor. The food in the dining area, mass produced, fruits given not ripe, no ATM on property, no room service, cannot take food to the room, one elevator for one building that is very small, the walk to the dining area is very long, no AC in the restaurants, very hot, wi-fi poor connection, no entertainment for the elderly, upgraded furnitures for the suites, safe in room needs upgrading, better in room amenities needed, gym is very small to accommodate enough guest, the entertainment section is super hot. Overall the hotel should consider key strategies that will enhance guest satisfaction such as personalized service, better amenities, room service efficiency, improve check in and check out experience, empower staff allowing them to make on the spot decisions and enhance the facilities. Most of the staff are very professional at their duties especially the housekeepers who are meticulous and consistent at their job. The dining room staff are very friendly, warm, attentive, consistent and the entertainment staff collaborate very well and supporting to each other. Some of the front desk staff were very helpful but should provide continuous training on customer service and empowerment for on the spot decision.

The check in was terrible. I had to wait for my room after checkin time, with little no instructions or guidance. The rooms are bare minimum for a Riu, my first room had no liquor or slippers bathrobe or extra pillows. We requested numerous times to therefore asking for a new room, the second room was the exact same. The restaurants were hard to get into and then when you finally did get a reservation it is buffet style. The taxi fare is ridiculously over priced. The alcohol choice is also sparse. Not my favourite Riu would not recommend or stay again.

Our toilet overflowed and it took almost redo good to get someone in and the water flooded ask of our clothes, shoes. They put the dirty water in the shower and promised to come back and clean with bleach and it never happened. I was not able to shower or use the bathroom at all. Instead of them coming to clean they told me to use the courtesy shower! I’m disappointed.

Really too hot at night. After dinner went back to room. No place to cool off. Night life at hotel was terrible. Everything outside no ceiling fans or AC. No Bars with AC

Upon entry to the complex we were asked twice in a matter of 1 minute who we were and why were we there. The first person, a lady, ushered us through, the second person, a young man would not open the gate and then proceeded to ask the same questions again but in an unfriendly manner. On the way to our room there were KFC chicken boxes on the elevator floor and the elevator floor was dirty. Only one elevator was working. We had decided to extend our stay by one day. This was done via Expedia and later verified at the hotel desk however we were locked out of our room on the day of original departure. This meant that the card system wasn't updated when we verified the extra day and so we had to return to the desk to sought it out. A camera man stopped us to take pictures but didn't indicate how long the session might take, nor did he provide the code so that we could view the photos ahead of a purchase. Other than this we actually enjoyed our stay. The Junior suite was nice, the facilities were good. Gym was a little small. The beach set up was great and staff warned us when rain was coming. We couldn't hear any noise from the activities and the places to eat were plentiful and the food was acceptable with plenty of variety. In the main staff were friendly and welcoming. We would attend this location again.
