GREAT BIRDS WATCHING...an eagle owl nesting in the forest, flocks of azure winged magpies, magic hoopoes plus the usual eagles, hawks and griffon vultures circling the peaks of the mountain. The walk to our local village of Montanchez takes 40 minutes on a delightful track through the natural landscape of the Sierra. There is also a great 3 hour walk through the watermill gorge, over the mountain and into Montanchez. There are 4 World Heritage cities within a radius of 40 km: Caceres, Trujillo, Guadalupe and Merida, fascinating to discover, great nightlife and shopping. Spring is a great time to visit the finca, it is a long season from late March to mid-May, the wildflowers are spectacular and a great time for birdwatching. Summer means wonderful lazy days surrounded by beautiful views of olive groves and up to the shady forests of the Sierra , the evenings are a delight, long sultry hours for candlelit dining on the beautiful terrace. Autumn is wonderfully warm until the end of October, still a great birdwatching opportunity with early winter migrations. Time to enjoy the uniquely preserved Moorish trails of the Sierra. Winter is cozy in the barn, the Danish wood stove keeps the whole spade warm. Many sunny days to enjoy the area.
