Make sure that you’re not staying at the annex!
First time staying in a Ryokan and to our surprise, they send us to the “annex”
which was not as nice as the main building of the hotel.
We did have a spacious western style room and our small private bathtub.
We didn’t really get to experience staying at a Ryokan since we were in a building its rooms and no baths.
The space was ok. Needs a bit of upkeep.
We stayed in the annex of the main property. It’s a very Classical Japanese room. The room was spacious and we enjoyed the private onsen. The manager is super nice ( but it’s useful to speak a bit of Japanese). He drove us to the main building for dinner ( and try the other onsen). It is also easy to go to the main street by foot. Dinner and breakfast were very copious and typical of riyokans.
Manager Mr Nakanishi was super friendly and helpful. It was very pleasant stay.
The location was nice and peaceful. Walkable distance to main area
The meal was very delicious
The room and onsen was great

Not cheap to begin with and 300m walk to main street and up slope walk when coming back. Should arrange a shuttle at least.
Onsen wasn't the best too.
The private in room onsen was awesome and spacious room with everything you need. Very thoughtful and personal with simple kitchen amenities. Staff are polite and very attentive! I also like the private balcony over looking the river! I highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed in two rooms for two nights. The service was excellent. The breakfasts and dinners were very filling and delicious. The rooms are a bit old but clean and very spacious. The private onsens were great but very cold for one room as it was not in a totally enclosed area. Would recommend.
The location a bit far from tourist area and restaurants. We can’t find our hotel in the beginning due to miscommunication. They have 2 hotels in the area. We went another one which is closed for maintenance and called them unfortunately the phone number given is this hotel too. It’s make us very worry due to sky became darkness. Luckily we found a lady worked nearby. She told us the exact hotel location only we reached our location. Very very bad experience. Overall the hotel quite comfortable and clean. We had our private onsen in our room. Otherwise their public onsen closed for maintainance.
Excellent hotel with large rooms with Japanese tatami area, view of the river, as well as western beds. Having a large private hot spring bath as part of the room was very nice. Only improvement would be if breakfast was available .
Very large room - separate bedroom. The private onsen was fabulous. Slightly open to the elements but really great. The food was great. We had breakfast in our room and then dinner in the main building - someone drove us here, only 2 minutes away.
The service was excellent from all the staff and most spoke at least some English (some spoke very good English).
Slightly out of the main town but only a short walk or drive. Very peaceful.
Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. The ryokan had all I needed - private onsen in the room, nice food, traditional ryokan feel, privacy. The Hanadomari is separated from main building which is very private and hardly see other guests.
Room: Guest room is separated with bedroom, living space, kitchen, and onsen area. Each section is not big but overall quite huge size compare to other ryokans. The room is quite aged and not fancy but satisfied with traditional feeling.
Hot Spring: The private onsen is big enough for one or two. The public indoor/outdoor onsen size were big. Only met a couple of people and sometimes I was alone in the pool.
Food: Dinner was served at the main building and shuttle is provided. Breakfast was served in the room. Both meals had a lot of food and very delicious.
Staffs: Very friendly and helpful. No complaint at all
