About this space
The Hemlock Hideaway is a charming, rustic cabin in the woods designed for rest and
relaxation. Guests will journey into simpler times, inspired by antique furnishings that remind them to slow down and unwind during their stay.
The cabin is isolated yet only 10 min drive to Jiminy Peak for skiing as well as park and trails for hiking, apple orchards, excellent restaurants and foliage viewings. Cherry Plain State Park, Mount Greylock, Lebanon Speedway, Albany, and Pittsfield are all 25 min max.
The space
The cabin offers space for six with one main bedroom, a lofted space and the cozy living room all furnished with queen size beds. The hot tub is an old fashioned cedar tub for ultimate relaxation. It’s perfect for a couple’s retreat or family getaway. Up to 2 couples can vacation together escaping the city for the peace and quiet of quaint Stephentown.
The kitchen is well appointed with everything one would need to create a fine dining experience. There is room at the table for all 4 guests who can gather at the cozy breakfast nook. You will marvel at the mid century stove while preparing a delicious meal for your family and friends. Enjoy an espresso or cappuccino in the morning while reading or enjoying the scenic views.
The living room has a wood burning stove to keep everyone warm in the cold months while sharing a bottle of wine or enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. Relax and play a board game, work on a jigsaw puzzle, or read a book by the fire.
The deck and porch in the warmer months is the place to be to get some sun, play a little corn hole or grill. In the fall the view off the deck will satisfy your foliage viewing desires. Guests may enjoy an outdoor fire or roast marshmallows as temperatures dip.
The pond is a great place to relax. If you're feeling adventurous you can take a dip. Be aware that the pond appears to freeze over in the winter months, but is not safe to walk or skate on since it is constantly being refreshed by the creek. DO NOT TRY TO WALK ON THE POND WHEN FROZEN.
Guest access
The property is quite large with over 14 acres for guests to enjoy, but when hiking take note that it is challenging to tell where the property lines are within the forest. You can follow the creek up from the pond if you’re feeling adventurous. Or simply sit and relax on the front lawn and pond to sunbathe or relax on the spacious deck.
On the opposite side of the pond there is a private sandy beach.
Behind the house there is a shack currently being updated that will be a 3 season place to stay for guests. Past that there is a fun "trippy" forrest to explore.
Other things to note
We do not allow pets at the moment. Please do not leave any perishables at the cabin in the fridge or laying about the kitchen after your stay.
Just recently upgraded to a ductless minisplit system for heating and cooling.
Also there is a portable pizza oven up there if you'd want to make pizzas during your stay.
