Highly recommended, a very good location, a clean and comfortable room, good food both dinner and breakfast, very friendly service throughout in a typical British country pub.
Beautiful surroundings in a sweet country pub. Food was homemade with a range of selection.
Room was quiet and had all amenities needed.
Breakfast service in just a two hour window, could have been longer.
Great location just outside of Middlesbrough just a 10 minute journey into centre.
Plentiful walk options in immediate area.
Very disappointing.
We booked an allegedly Superior Room (room 2).
It is a converted conservatory. The roof is glass, covered by ill-fitting blinds, so the room is constantly lit by the outside lights at night - the large car park floodlights were on all night, as were the footpath lights. it is also noisy when it rains, as it is a glass roof.
The room is also noisy as it is right next to the front door, with people coming back to rooms from the pub, and on our second morning the deli delivery man arrived at 7.00am whistling and banging as he made his delivery to the pub.
The electrics in the room were potentially very dangerous, as the bedroom light sockets were falling apart!! Neither bedside lamps were functional, but you could move around the room ok at night because it was well enough lit from the car park supertrooper lights!
The shower had a lot of black mould round the base...
Not a great experience I'm afraid.
No WiFi or o2 signal , with the exception of one member of staff everyone was just doing their job no more no less ,rats around the accommodation, outside when i saw them .
I think that overall my stay was excellent value. I wish the mattress wasn't quite so firm and that the pillows were more like my own (latex) but this is impossible to cater for. Food also excellent.

Great if you want to get away from t'internet
Lovely country location and busy pub with good range of food including game. Chain rather than individually run. Minimal or no wifi, especially in the bedrooms. Good breakfast. Bedroom in the conservatory very cold which meant the bed felt damp so avoid if possible. Plenty of hot water in the morning though.
Really nice and welcoming.
I have business in this location and will book again.
Food good value and equally nice excellent breakfast.
Nothing to dislike.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
With limited mobility we were in upstairs room with long access corridor.
bathroom mirror and wash basin were too high for 5ft 2in person and wardrobe space was inadequate
One night stay which was fairly expensive for a small room. The toilet was difficult to flush and the sink plug did not fit. Staff was good and breakfast had a wide choice made to order; dinner also had a variety of interesting choices. The entrance to the car park was very narrow and on a busy road. Hotel had charm and was historic though, its situation was excellent.
