Awesome
We had a blast even in a short time staying at the yurt. We’ll be back to stay longer next time. Yurt has more than what you need as far as “camping”. Very relaxing and listening/seeing the wildlife within few steps from the yurt.

Absolute Magic!
My family and I had the most amazing stay at the yurt. It is truly a magical experience. Megan was so communicative, kind, and helpful from check in to check out. The yurt is stunning and set in a beautiful wooded setting. The bed was comfy, and there was everything you could possibly think to want in it. Megan is so incredibly thoughtful about absolutely everything. If you are looking for a unique and memorable experience, this is it. My 6 year old said it was his favorite thing we did all summer. We did not want to leave, and will be back for sure!

I fell in love with The Yurt
Picture this. You wake up in a king-size bed on lush, high thread count sheets and under a blanket that takes you back to winter in kindergarten where you felt cozy and safe. You stretch and wash your face in a pristine porcelain facebowl, and the towel you press to your face is the consistency of the center of a fresh buttery croissant. Then you walk outside, and you're the only one for miles. There are no humans. No neighbors. No profanity-laced arguments from fellow travelers. Only nature and oxygen-enriched air that has undertones of freshly cut pine trees. Because you literally are in the middle of a forest. You look up and you see the Aurora Borealis. As the sun begins to gently caress the horizon, you hear a whisper. Could be a squirrel. Could be a woodpecker. Could be a deer. And as the morning progresses, you're ready to go out adventuring, and everything you want to see is within a traffic-free, 20-minute drive. What I just described, what I just experienced first-hand, was more than just some yurt in the woods. This was a 5-star experience. Opulence, decadence, convenience, coziness, peace, privacy, natural. When I told friends I'd be staying in a yurt for 11 days, they assumed a certain kind of rustic experience. I'd be embarrassed to tell them I lived better than I do in my own home, better towels, better sheets, better bed, even the bathroom is bigger than my own (seriously, you could throw a dinner party in the bathroom it's so spacious). This was a resort.

The yurt was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. Host communicated well and was available for all our questions. Plenty of hiking trails nearby to keep us busy. If going this summer remember your bug spray! They are brutal this year.

Great 1 night stay for road trip instead of busy Duluth
Had a wonderful stay in a gorgeous yurt. The owner was super friendly and everything was easy to find and lots of thoughtful items at the yurt. Loved hearing the birds and wolves. Way better alternative than Duluth if you are road tripping! Their friendly visiting cat was an added bonus and the kids loved visiting with him as he came by. Will definitely stay again next time we drive through.

It was a short stay but they made it wonderful. Lots of traffic of ATV on state trail but that’s not their fault. We still had silence and bird sounds.

Great for a spring weekend
The yurt is perfect, with all the amenities for a relaxed stay in nature. The owners have provided all the access to power, water, heating to make it like a well appointed hotel room, but in the country and with windows all around. I could happily watch the sky through the skylight for hours.

Great Family Experience
Yurt was an anwesome experience! First, the Yurt is pretty big- my family of 4 plus a dog were comfortable in there- it’s warm, you can hear the outside world really well, great beds and bedding, very cool structure, thoughtful decor and books and games- it’s an experience! The host Megan is very cool- informative available. It is very private, it’s near many exploring opportunities, we explored state forest land nearby and barely scratched the surface of the birdwatching world. I recommend- for as long as you can. We went one night andwe felt reconnected quickly- wish we were there for a week.

Bird watching getaway
Megan and Aaron have the most amazing yurt. We came up for 2 nights to check out the Sax-Zim Bog. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and stepped into the nice warm yurt with a fire burning. They thought of all the details with this yurt. It is beautiful and cozy. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts. My only regret is not staying another night just so we could spend more time in this cozy space as they have surrounded it with bird feeders to watch the local birds.

Wonderful location, wonderful hosts
Megan and Aaron are awesome. They clearly put a lot of thought and planning into the yurt, and the resulting experience is truly outstanding. If you are looking for close access to the SZB, this is by far the best option. PLUS, there are feeders outside the yurt, so you do not even need to leave the site to do some birding if you are inclined. The space is warm and cozy and provides an experience that surrounds you with nature but with many conveniences.

First stay in a yurt
Aaron and Megan welcomed us and showed us the basics of living in a yurt. The wood stove, the propane heater, and excellent bedding kept us warm on two very cold nights. The heated outhouse was a special bonus. We spent two days birding at the Sax-Zim Bog, which is very close. I was worried about the tire pressure warning my the car, with noplace near to get the pressure checked. Aaron added air the to the tires, that were fine. That's unusually wonderful service! Gregg

The Yurt at Sax Zim Bog
The yurt was adorable! It was much larger then I expected and yet perfectly cozy. It had everything we needed for our stay. I really appreciated the pour over coffee and snack basket. The owners were very nice and helped guide us to the yurt when we arrived after dark. It might seem silly but I was very impressed with the spacious heated outhouse (lol). We would love to turn this into an annual trip! The bog welcome center is just a few minutes drive away making this the perfect place to stay to visit the Sax Zim Bog.

Great Location and Fun Experience for Sax-Zim Bog
Historically, I've stayed in Grand Rapids or Duluth, MN when I visit the bog. I saw this listing and jumped at the chance. The closer stay made a positive difference in my Sax-Zim Bog routine. With this location, you can be out birding..drop someone off...and head back out for more birding. I'd come back for a solo stay. I like that I could get up early, come back for a quick nap and lunch, and then head back out to catch late afternoon-dusk photos/birds. The property has character and charm. The yurt is a really fun and neat experience. I had never stayed in a yurt until this trip. I had a non-outdoorsy person in tow and it was a really positive experience for them. I also liked the proximity to the restaurants I frequent (cafe off the highway and bar and grill in Meadowlands). The hosts were amazing! Really nice people. I will definitely come back!

Perfect. Simply perfect.
Came to the yurt for a birding adventure at Sax Zim Bog. This yurt is so cute and cozy. Bed was comfy, wood stove and heater kept me plenty warm. Host was very helpful! They started a fire in the wood stove for me both days, so when I arrived at the yurt the fire was waiting for me and the yurt was nice and warm. I will definitely return.

Great stay!
We will definitely be back. The hosts were fantastic and helpful. The yurt was warm and cozy. The outside bathroom was clean and heated. Cons: I had to hear my husband talk about wanting to build his own yurt for the next week and a half!! 😜 😆 But we did have a great time. It was my husband and I and our 18 yr old dtr . During the day we toured Sax Zim Bog . After a cold day, it was nice to come back to a warm yurt.
