Trabucco Gardens - Yosemite Gold Country Stargazing Retreat!

IMPORTANT: IF BRINGING A DOG TELL US BEFORE YOU ARRIVE (PET FEE WILL APPLY)

Conveniently located off Highway 49 in California's Gold Country, on a historic parcel known as Trabucco Gardens.

During the Gold Rush days, Trabucco Gardens was a parcel of land cultivated as a vegetable garden, while Forty-Niners discovered gold in the area. The historic rock walls on property mark the perimeter where the garden once grew.

The joy of discovery continues here today. Now you can discover the vast riches our universe has to offer. Trabucco Gardens, located on 17 acres, provides you with a grand opportunity to stargaze using the observatory telescope. The robotic GO-TO telescope is available during your stay, and included in the rental cost. The open, rural nature of the property, which is considered "above the fog and below the snow", provides you with many clear night opportunities, even in winter.

The Trabucco Gardens House, newly constructed in 2007, is well appointed and available year round. Mariposa, the county seat, which is 10 miles south, has many essential services, along with many wonderful dining, shopping, and historic sightseeing experiences. Yosemite National Park's West entrance is located about 45 minutes away up Highway 140 from Mariposa.

We provide housekeeping service (not daily maid service), before and after your stay. Courtesy towels, coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, and guest soap are provided to welcome you on the day you arrive. Personal key code access provides you with convenience and security. Along with a fold-away sofa bed in the living room, a queen-sized inflatable Aero-Bed is provided for extra sleeping accommodations.

Because of the rural nature of the area, there is abundant opportunity for wildlife sightings, such as deer, wild turkey, coyote, bobcat, birds of prey, and perhaps an occasional bear. Seasonal creeks at the North and South ends of the property flow during winter and spring. Make sure to leave some time in your schedule during your stay for stargazing too.

Using the telescope, beautiful views of the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Cluster, and many other deep sky objects are yours to behold. The telescope offers a TOUR mode, which takes you to the best and brightest objects in the sky during your stay. Stargazing doesn't get any easier than this.

What on EARTH are you waiting for? Go mining in the INFINITE FRONTIER above! An inspiring adventure of discovery for the young and the young-at-heart is here at Trabucco Gardens.

NOTE: Please include a phone number with your inquiry in case our E-mail reply fails to reach you due to technical reasons. WE ALWAYS RESPOND WITHIN A FEW HOURS.

NOTE: If you are booking through EXPEDIA and are bringing a pet please tell us BEFORE you arrive. There is a required $25 PET FEE that must be paid.

NOTE: If you wish to use the EV Charger for your vehicle let us know at time of booking BEFORE you arrive. We will need to turn on the EV Charger prior to your arrival. A $40 fee must be paid before your arrival to use the EV charger (unlimited charging).

NOTE: We DO NOT have a swimming pool, regardless of what the amenities list may indicate. There is no tripod telescope inside the house - only in the observatory.

Very nice, quiet getaway
Comfortable and relaxing. The house was nice and comfortable and the telescope was a great perk. There is another cabin that isn't too far away, so not quite as private as advertised, but the other guests were quiet and I suppose that's the nature of putting utilities on a property this remote--things can't be too far apart. Still very enjoyable!

OK, I guess
Property is remote and very quiet. You could hear coyotes at night. Outside vegetation was very dry, not like shown in picture. Inside was OK, I guess. Wifi worked great. Fireplace was very nice and easy to use. DVD remote did not work at all. Only two very thin towels were available (yes, I did look in dryer and upstairs as instructed). Kitchen wasn't stocked very well. 2 wine glasses, 2 forks, etc. Owner did say to contact him with any concerns. I just don't feel I should have to do that. I'm on vacation, not in charge of quality control. The owner should know what is available in the home. That being said if you are looking for a place that is remote, takes dogs and don't mind these inconveniences, you may like this place. Owner was very responsive to questions and booking was easy.

Not to my standards
Was not the cleanest place, pull out bed was not accommodating, extra cot was broken. No Internet on tv, which was blocked on purpose so we couldn't enjoy any movies, they had DVD movies and DVD player but didn't had a remote so that didn't work. 3 forkes only door was annoying it kept locking us out.

Wonderful visit
Lovely cabin close to Mariposa and Yosemite. Very comfortable furnishings and bed with well equipped kitchen. Relaxing front porch with ample chairs. A telescope to look at the dark sky was a fun addition. Would stay again.

Cool property
Location was great. Enough away from town, but close enough to get there in about 15 minutes. About an hour outside Yosemite, so it made our stay great. The stairs inside were quite steep and the wood floors were kinda slick for dogs and maybe the elderly. I would recommend this property.

We absolutely enjoyed our 5 day stay in this nice quaint cottage. We enjoyed it so much that we were sad to have to leave. Communication with the owner and housekeeper was excellent. If we were provided the opportunity in the future we would definitely love to come back for another stay. Thank you!!!

Nice and quiet!
This was a great home base for my wife and I during our visit to Yosemite! The cabin is clean and off the road a bit so it’s nice and quiet and dark, just as we wanted. Owner left a snack basket for us which was a nice touch. Only surprise was that the Master BR was on the second floor and the bathroom upstairs didn’t have a bath or shower in it. Not that big of a big deal, but worth noting. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again!

WOW...Mariposa and Yosemite in sunset + SNOW
We were blown away by the beauty of God's creation and the incredible setting on this property and the idyllic log cabin yet modern feel. If you want boring corporate straight lines and not timber, fireplaces, telescopes, river, mountain sunrises and sunsets please stay away and leave this property for the rest of us. if I didn't live in Australia I'd be back next year. Since I can't it's wide open for a March- April stay. The property is identical to photos but what you can;t properly appreciate is the setting nestled in a valley, river below, sunrises over one hill behind the property, sunsets over another in front. It's the one place on our 15 day California USA trip we would have loved to have added a rest day into to just hang around on site. I loved Yosemite in 1985 in the summer...but I was enchanted by both Yosemite and this Bear Valley/Mariposa region in late winter/early spring. Bucket list ticked...but I want more... PS Site manger Troy was great. Do yourself a favor and get to know at least one local...it's worth it...they're worth it.

Great and Cozy Stay
Great and very well built cabin in a nice location. A lot of room on the property to walk around. Went during Spring where the weather was perfect in the location. About an hour drive to Yosemite.10 minutes to a grocery store and gas station if needed. Owner is friendly and responsive when we called. Information provided by him were detailed where no further question were needed to be asked during our stay. Would recommend to stay here. Thank you very much again for having us
