Spend a few peaceful days at North Shore Retreat and you'll understand why we say, “Inspiration Lives Here.” Whether you're writing, painting, birdwatching, spending time with family, or just getting away from it all, we're confident you'll find yourself refreshed and inspired by the natural beauty of the northern shore of Lake Michigan and the comfortable surroundings of this home located on the waterfront in the south-central Upper Peninsula region.

North Shore Retreat offers stunning views of the waterfront right from the bed and fall asleep gazing at the stars through the two overhead skylights.
The fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room offer fabulous views beyond the slightly sloped yard to the vast Lake Michigan waters. You'll feel like you're at the ocean – but without the sharks! Watch the ships far out on the horizon or watch the birds and wildlife right up close in the yard. Brew your morning coffee in our Flex brew coffee maker (by the pot or single K-cup) or visit one of the excellent coffee shops in downtown Manistique.

Exceeded Expectations
Looking at the venue, how could it be better? But it was. First the negs… upstairs bed too soft mattress , and then MOSQUITOES! You’re in da UP hey, and in cedar bog so gotta expect.. but when yard grass is 2 feet? (Helps the blood suckers launch) FWVR resolved the issue by days end. The downstairs room is not handicap friendly…. Daughter had to negotiate the stairs to the shower, The chairs in nook well worn. The website underserves the site. Many items not shown- they have a crock pot and blender-we were gonna take. Took a heavy chaise… only to find several in the garage (pictures waay outdated) The owner has a penchant for organization: Tissues in every room, clearly marked locations, and sleep machine in bedroom, foot bath outside. Surely the owner spends time here as everything is here as in a home (pictures missing) TV system provides recording! Used. The Nook was used extensively. We brought our own bird feeders and the humming birds quickly arrive. The is expansive and provided non-stop waves sound and includes a waterfall!. The extra refrig was used and a bonus.

A very comfortable home with great views of Lake Michigan. Love the annexed sitting room to read while enjoying the sights and sounds. Broad lakeshore expanse with room to roam. Lots of local places to hike... but BEWARE of ticks! Great communication with management.

Beachfront at Manistique
We really enjoyed the our stay in Manistique. Its central location on the eastern half of the Upper Peninsula allows for access to all the key sites one would want to see, such as Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls, as well as many parks for hiking. All of which we visited. The home has great lake views and a nice rustic feel which fits the woodsy Upper Peninsula.

Everything we hoped for!
We had an amazing experience at North Shore Retreat. The property was quiet, private, beautiful, and a great place to relax. The house was clean and well stocked with everything that anyone would need for cooking or enjoying the beach. The art supplies for painting rocks were a unique and creative touch. We would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely Perfect!
This property and house were absolutely perfect!! My husband, I, and our 2 boys loved our stay! Pulling up we were all in aw of the views! Anything we ever could have needed was at the house. The beds were comfy, the house was clean, plenty of linens. The beach was right out the back door, play toys, beach chairs, and a ping pong table in the garage we loved too! The whole wall of windows on the back side of the house left the most beautiful views from inside the house. The sunroom we didn’t really use but it’s a nice cozy spot to sit and listen to the sounds outside. The house wasn’t built in 2023, but that did not effect our stay in the least bit. There is a cute little town about 5-10 minutes away that had a lighthouse, boardwalk, and the best little ice cream spot that we hit a couple nights! I am so glad we picked this house! If we ever make it back up to the area I would 100% stay here again. I would recommend it to any friends or family. I am sure there is so much more I could say about our stay, My boys are still talking about our time up there and how awesome it was, and how many memories we made up there!! <3 Thank you for sharing your wonderful house with us!

Fall Get Away
We have been coming to the UP for the past four years, but this was our first time at North Shore retreat. We loved the location of the property and enjoyed beach walks and the trail on the property. The home was very clean and provided everything we needed. We loved the fireplace and sipping morning coffee in the sunroom. We are hoping to make a return trip late summer 2023 and would enjoy staying at North Shore retreat again

We had a great stay at the North Shore Retreat! Everything was clean and comfortable. The property is absolutely beautiful. The beach was clean and we never saw anyone else. Our kids loved the rock painting station. The property is set up with everything you could need. The kitchen was well stocked with basic cookware and tools. We also really enjoyed having tea in the morning looking at the lake from the 3 seasons room. Hoping to come back to stay again!

Amazing Getaway
We had a short stay at this relaxing property and I didn't want to leave. It was a nice treat to walk into a freshly cleaned home and feel right at home. The beach is right out the front door and so beautiful. Everything we needed was there. Jack's grocery is 10 minutes away. As stated in the listing: Internet is spotty. So not great if you are planning to work remotely...but fabulous if you are trying to unplug. TV did work. Host responsive. Would definitely recommend.

Nice place depending on your needs
The location and home are lovely. The house isn’t new by any stretch, but it functions well. The beach was beautiful with a lovely fire pit. The master is actually a loft and the only other bedroom has a queen with bunkbeds all in the same room. This wasn’t an issue for us since it was just a couple spending our anniversary together. With a family that could be logistically challenging. The Internet is a DSL that is somewhat spotty.

This home is just as pictured, clean, with beautiful views of Lake Michigan. It has a nice sized yard and a large private beach, also has a huge deck for relaxation! There is a sun room off the side of the kitchen, when it’s door is shut you can barley hear the kids or the tv in the main room, so perfect for reading.

Lake Michigan Never Disappoints
This is an attractive home. It is well furnished & the kitchen is well equipped. The lot is wooded & very private, but pleasantly sunny on the deck & facing the beach. The beach is wide, sandy & very inviting. We had typical early June weather; cool & windy (not swimming weather) which we were prepared for. On the days that were not comfortable for outside activity, we enjoyed watching the beach & waves from the cosy comfort of the living room.

Great Lakefront Property with Everything to Make an Amazing Vacation
We stayed here for 2 nights on a tour of the Upper Peninsula. Pulling into the property you are greeted with a beautiful view of the lake through the trees. The cottage was well laid out, organized, clean and comfortable! The extra room off the dining area was a favorite to sit on the chairs and listen to the waves roll onto the beach. We used the large grill both days and appreciated the kitchen layout, size and organization. The kids loved the sandy beach, creek and trail to explore. Overall a wonderful place to stay and will recommend to family and friends!
