Just 100 miles from Washington, DC, and a short drive to Shenandoah National Park, Bryce and Massanutten Ski resorts, and the spectacular Luray Caverns, you'll find yourself spoiled for choice. Experience a slice of history with a visit to the numerous Civil War battlefields or enjoy some leisurely wine-tasting at the nearby wineries and breweries. Hiking and water sports enthusiasts can hit the trails and the Shenandoah River, while antique shop and art gallery enthusiasts can discover hidden treasures in the charming towns along Route 11, including Edinburg and Woodstock.

Deer Haven's warm and welcoming interior is designed for your utmost comfort and convenience. **NOTE FOR WINTER GUESTS:
Deer Haven's recent paving of the most difficult part of the driveway has made it easier to reach the cabin. However, as the area does occasionally get snow, we require a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle during winter months. Rest assured, we'll work with you to ensure your safety and comfort during inclement weather. In the unlikely event that the road is impassable, we'll honor a partial or full refund depending on the circumstances.

A Treasure in the Woods
We had a wonderful stay at Deer Haven. The house was clean and very comfortable. The views were amazing, and the hot tub was perfect after long days of hiking. Nice outside deck seating and interior seats to allow for maximum views enjoyment! Would definitely rent this house again if we return to the area.

Deer Haven is a very comfortable and spacious house on a secluded property with a great view from the balcony and upstairs bedroom. It is exactly as described on the VRBO listing. We can't say enough about this wonderful Deer Haven.
We go on a trip each year with our friends who we have known for 40+ years. Selecting a place can be daunting. We found this gem and it was nothing less than WONDERFUL. I think maybe we should have gone to less vineyards and spent more time at this rental. That's how pretty it is. The owners have thought of everything for the comfort of their guests. The directions to the property were "precise" and I mean, there is no way you can get lost. We even drove it in the dark...twice! Inside, it's spacious. It has a very large and comfortable sectional in the living room with a large Smart TV (we brought our Roku hoping to be able to stream Xfinity) The beds are comfortable (may I suggest more nightstands). The downstairs is private and it's own suite. We got to stay upstairs with the expansive view of the valley from huge windows. It was so much fun. I think we should have stayed another night but the other couple had plans. It was a memorable stay and we thank the owners, who by the way, were very responsive to any question we may have had before we arrived. Their instructions are so thorough, that we had no need to contact them during our stay. GREAT place.

Escape from the real world
I planned this trip after I quit a 5.5 year job that was draining my soul for far too long. I needed to escape to the mountains before fully buckling down into my new job with a different company. This home was everything I needed. The host was extremely responsive to any questions. We overall enjoyed our stay. The cabin is well prepared, clean and comfortable. the owner is very responsive. Unfortunately we did not get to use the 1st floor main bedroom which has a beautiful view, because has huge windows with no curtains or shadows, and we did not want to wake up at 5 am. Also families with kids be aware that the bunk beds are in the basement, if you want to stay close to them you should sleep in the basement bedroom next to it. We used the hot tub, which was nice, but could be cleaner. The water was 7 points out of 10. Also, my kids and I got scared a couple of times because of the shootings, despite was not hunt season.

Exactly what we needed to getaway from the city, unwind, and get quality time hidden away from the rest of the world. The home was as described and the view was absolutely spectacular. We loved every minute of our stay and was sad to leave. The only critique is that the home had a slight damp odor upon entry and the hot tub had an unidentified odor as well but otherwise clean and we still made great use of it! Very nice!
We had a nice, relaxing few days. We would recommend this home. The view was incredible! The home was clean and the living room furniture was so comfortable for a family. The only small issue we had is that the "master bedroom" does not have the bathroom attached. The room is beautiful with floor to ceiling windows, but there were no drapes to block the sun early in the morning while sleeping. My husband and I ended up sleeping in the basement bedroom, which was nice except it was very cold. We did appreciate the extra blankets!
