Beautiful location
We booked this accommodation as a 4-day fieldwork base. The mill house has its idiosyncrasies. As long as you set your expectations for camping conditions in a remote part of the world, you will find the structure to be sufficient. The location is spectacular and the jetty is very impressive. All team members expressed their satisfaction with their stay and would book it again for similar work.

In two minds
The house is located in the most beautiful of settings, surrounded by flowers, trees and the glorious Lune River. Standing on the back deck watching birds float past, knowing you’re miles from anyone else is an incredible experience. One which we adored. However while the description of the house as rustic is absolutely correct there are several things which are worrying. First is the electricity. The house is not insulated and comes with several electrical heaters as well as two wood fires, however if you have more than two heaters on at once all the electricity goes off, meaning you need to carefully choose where you want warmed. But if you want the kettle and two heaters on, the electricity goes off. If you want the kettle and the microwave the electricity goes off. Someone urgently needs to get this checked as it may lead to a fire. Second is that while having two wood heaters is great, the glass in one is smashed meaning it’s dangerous to use. If used and one of the glass shards falls out an ember could escape from the fire and lead to loss of life. There were few logs ready for the fire and there was only a very small tomahawk to split wood with. Third is the bathroom - only one roll of toilet paper with about 6 sheets on it (no spare) and a hair dryer with a European plug. A heater, but if you use it the electricity goes off. The listing mentioned wifi, dish washer and other conveniences, which either don’t exist or don’t work. Yes the place is rustic but please remov

Sunrise Stay at Lune Mill River House
We had a wonderful few days staying at the Lune Mill River House. It was great to wake up, open the curtains, and see the sun rise on the river from the bed. The view of the river was amazing.

Autumn get away at Lune river
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic, character filled property set in such a beautiful location. It's not for those seeking ultimate cleanliness and new style interior but for us it had the atmosphere we enjoy. We look forward to returning in the future

Lune River mill house is described perfectly. It is old, rustic, and just fantastic. We love the memories it brought back from our childhood. So many old things that were just like home. 10/10

A beautiful stay right on the river
We had a fantastic time in Lune River. The accommodation is just as described. Upon arrival we were greeted by a pair of geese under the plum tree. There are many plum trees with delicious fruit ready for eating (early February). The house is rustic, spacious and right on the river. The fire was ready to light which was lovely during the rainy part of our stay. The deck is literally over the river and a fantastic place to relax. We headed down the road and did the walk at Cockle Beach to the southern most point of Australia. We loved our stay at Lune River and would definitely come back here next time.

Disappointing
So this property is gorgeous, what a location, peaceful, private, right on the river. Can't fault the structure or position. Sadly, it was like a family weekender that nobody bothered to clean or maintain. The list of issues we encountered was extensive, everything was dirty and a lot of things like lights, heaters and board game in a state of disrepair. We didn't expect five star accommodation. However, paying good money to stay somewhere would imply that it is clean and serviceable. The main complaint here is that we raised the issues very politely with the owner, and aside from attempting to deflect responsibility to the cleaner, they did not bother to respond to our concerns. It is rare that we get away without kids. The lovely location was sadly let down by the lack of cleanliness, the rubbish and washing up left for us and the abject lack of interest in any of this by the owner. The fishing rig, with hooks, that was left in the wood box, was dangerous to say the least. A refund would be in order. Jules and Brooke Tas

Perfect family get away for teens
Rustic back to nature get away. Kids (aged 11+) loved being able to wake up and jump in their kayaks each morning. River can be seen from kitchen window so didn't need to be down supervising at waters edge. Learnt to live with wasps and mozzies for a real outdoor experience. I'm told their favourite bit was stepping in knee deep mud!

We stayed 3 relaxing nights at Lune River. The property is quirky and full of character, and everything you need. We really enjoyed the location and even caught a number of fish off the jetty. We would love to know more about the history of the house and the area. Thank you Lesley for allowing us to stay. We are all feeling a lot more relaxed.

Unwind by the River
The Mill House is old, comfortable and full of character. It is right on the riverside and has no close neighbours. Peace and quiet. It feels like your old family bach/shack/cottage. There are lots of bunk beds and a rustic feel, so I think it would suit an extended family or youth group very well. (There are uneven steps and trip points though, so not for the elderly or those with mobility problems.)

Great escape!
Our stay here was amazing. A great spot on the Lune river. We managed to catch a few bream from the jetty at the back of the property and really enjoyed what the property had to offer. The outlook over the river and the eclectic decor added to a great experience. The property was well equipped with everything we needed to feel home away from home. Thankyou Lesley for allowing us to stay at this special place.
