Booked through Expedia, but when I arrived the accommodation it was closed down for refurbishment. Bizarrely they are refusing to give a refund, despite the fact that they have taken both my booking and money for a service that is not available
Strong smell in the room where we were staying as it was above the kitchen. The room itself was large and comfortable. The place requires full refurbishment, it is very tired and uninvitiing, it felt dump in our room.
The breakfast was incredibly limited. It was self service but there was no information provided on the way it was suppose to work. Logistics of it have nkt been perfected. Smalk room with squasged offerring, nothing printed anywhere to tell you what yiur options are, lastried randomly turning up when people had just the toast and tea. We had to have breakfast elsewhere and did not bother at this place after two days of such exoerience.
We had to tell guests how to help themselves as some thought that it was a table service. Given it's a pub with a kitchen, they should consider serving better breakfast and charge for it, rather than include in room price and provide a bare minimum. The tables at brekfast time were not even cleaned from the night before with wet rings from the glassware. Overall a dissapointing experience as a b&b.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Fantastic character property, they did food but we didn't pre-book so could not sample. Good points, we were in Room No 3 - very clean bedroom (bed had nice white duvet/cotton sheets) a lovely 2 seater settee/cushions with large TV with great selection of tea/coffee/visitor leaflet pack. Room a nice quite view. The bathroom is large & nicely decorated plus clean/fluffy white towels. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Breakfast was a continental style breakfast with as much as you want, lovely bread with lots of choices for spreads, honey etc., a coffee machine or cornish tea bags. All excellent. Not so good, the bed was placed in a narrow room with very little space to move either side of the bed. The bed was uncomfortable & when I had a morning shower, the showerhead fell apart & came off at high speed towards me due to pressure of the water - luckily I was not close to the showerhead so didn't have an injured face! - we told a member of staff when having breakfast later. The Bedroom is on 2 levels with a step towards the bathroom which was a little awkward as my husband has walking difficulties but I should have given info as to mobility issues when I booked the room, so that was my fault.
We stayed with them for a couple of days and had a good break.
Staff were great.
Honest opinion i feel the pub/hotel looks very tired. Think it needs some TLC, especially with regards to the carpets and general cleaning.
The bedroom was adequate but not what I would call delux.
Would we stay again? Probably not.
Felt it important to be honest loved the mail voice choir.
Great base for travelling around.
Comfort able room.
Excellent food in resturant.
Breakfast was continental, which wasn't a problem, but should have been advertised as that really.
Location is very good, but what lets this property down is how very tired looking it is, yes i know this is an old inn but it badly needs some
Money spending on it ! Rooms very clean. What shocked me most was the red carpet on the stairs & landing very very dirty ! But 1 thing you could not fault was the staff, they were absolutely amazing.
If like us you like a pub with character eg low beams, open fire places etc you will love this Inn. The staff, locals and guests when we stayed were so welcoming and friendly they made our stay there so enjoyable. The food was so good we ate there every night of our stay and also the self serve breakfasts of fresh fruit, cereals, warm pastries etc, set us up for the day. All the staff worked hard making sure everyone there was looked after and always had a smile on their face. The large car park was great and also there is a good bus service from the church up the road which we used to visit Polperro, Looe, etc which was cheaper than paying for car parking and more relaxing to be driven and dropped off where you want to explore. If we go to that area again we would definately want to stay there.
Great first visit. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Super, comfortable room, exceptiuonally clean. Amazing Sunday lunch. We will be back!!
