Unsmiling, cool reception , room not ready at 3.00pm arrival. Room cold and dingy. Daybed/sofa ugly and comfortless. Problem with keys not opening firedoor in corridor and refusing access to Chamber Club for breakfast. Mistake in evening booking for drinks. I was very disappointed, it was not a five star experience.

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel you belong and nothing is too much trouble. The building is so beautiful and opulent. Like stepping back to grander times. I recommend the Sunday roast at the booking office

The history of the hotel building. Wonderfully, grand and Victorian in the original design. Which has been wonderfully restored and updated in a very relatable manor. Fabulous and highly recommended.

Not a 5-star stay
The Renaissance Hotel is for some mysterious reason categorised as a 5-star hotel for reasons beyond me. Yes, it has a grand building and absolutely lovely decor, however, the rooms are simply below par. The room is giving old. One of the lamps’ fabric was torn, tables and wooden ornaments scratched and a pesky hair on the bed. Just not overall in good condition. You will pay for great location and nice staff, but the room itself is really more like a 3-star.

NFL WEEKEND
I do love this hotel - beautiful building, reception team are so helpful and everyone is so friendly. We stayed in a Chambers suite, which just made our weekend. The only downside is I am intolerant to oranges and although the toiletries were taken out of our room (had mandarin in ingredients) they sadly refilled the bathroom on our second day. Also never offered any different bathroom amenities! Which they have before. Just a small error but this could have been a nightmare!
