Our stay started off really well, the room (111) was comfy, with a sofa and two desks and the restaurant food was really nice. The taps in the sink were a bit odd, both appeared to run hot and the shower gave you water at the temperature it wanted too.
The second night was just awful.
The shower water was really hot and trying to adjust it just made it hotter - I had to get out before I scalded myself and finish my wash using glasses in the bath to rinse myself off. The shower cubicle is tiny too with an awkward door - I hurt myself on the baking hot shower pipework trying to get out.
That evening there was a birthday party with disco and karaoke in the event space below our room. We had not been warned of this.
We had a nice meal then went to our room where we endured 3.5 hours of people who could not sing bellowing into a microphone to Abba, Meatloaf, Bryan Adams and various other karaoke classics. It was absolutely unbearable - especially as we both had terrible colds and just wanted to sleep.
I don’t understand a business that thinks it is OK to give people a room to sleep in where they know they will be exposed to extreme noise. The volume was so high that when I rested my laptop on the arm of the sofa the keys actually rattled with the vibration.
You can’t make up for an experience like that, no matter how nice the dinner is.
